  • comfortable cottage for a perfect little holiday

"very nice little house with a good location in order to explore the lower West coast. So many things to see and explore including the Sooke pot holes. Thank you to the always so amicable host."

  • Perfect property for a relaxing stay

"This is an immaculately clean suite with a beautiful view from the top of the hill. We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy on the outside patio overlooking the garden, watching the birds and listening to water rushing from the top of a large basalt stone fountain near the patio where the birds came to drink. The king sized bed with a pillow top mattress was extremely comfortable. Doug and Signy were great telling us what we needed to know about using the hot tub and appliances. The home is a short drive from Sooke so it was convenient when we needed to get groceries. We were able to take our small non-shedding dog with us for the week and she enjoyed the frequent walks and car rides. There were many deer in the area, which was interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

  • Friends vacation

"How can I put into words what a lovely vacation we had. We are 3 married couples in our mid-fifties who have known each other for 4 decades. We wanted a homey atmosphere where we could relax after a day of exploring the local points of interest, cook the local food we caught (king salmon and dungeness crab), enjoy the scenery from the deck, and retreat to our bedrooms for a good night rest so we could do it all over again the next day. Rocky Point fulfilled all those wishes and more! Don and Judy Johnson are the best of hosts, listening to our ideas of fun and suggesting outings for us. Don even took us on a successful fishing outing. We all celebrated with a wonderful meal of crab, salmon, potatoes, corn on the cob and dessert all cooked in the well stocked kitchen. We topped the night off with a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Other highlights of the trip included seeing orca whales breach from our perch on the deck, a bon-fire on the beach, bus tour to Victoria to the fisherman's wharf, viewing local art, and enjoying Butchart Gardens. How Wonderful! Thank you Don and Judy for helping good friends stay close and make lasting memories! Sincerely, Murray and Carol"

  • Home away from Home

"My family and I traveled to Sooke this month as we are looking at moving there. We decided to stay at Surfside Cottage so we could all stay together (my husband, 3yr old daughter and my parents). The cottage was perfect for us. It became a home away from home as we really looked forward to returning in the evenings. Even going so far as being glad when dinner plans fell through so we could stay at the cottage by the fire and just relax. We used all three rooms and while we weren't sure what to expect with the "teen room" it worked for us as my parents stayed in that room. It's a small room in the lower level of the house with an outside door and it's own small bathroom. The beds are a little smaller than a normal twin but my father, who is 5'10" fit just fine. The 2 rooms upstairs are large and have plenty of room for luggage. Everything was provided as well as far as kitchen gadgets and dishes. All the beds in the house are extremely comfortable and everything was sparkling clean. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the house down a path and it's so worth it. This was all about the view though. We even saw a whale making his way by on our last day. He was so close we could have thrown a rock and hit him. Standing at the living room windows with the fire crackling, watching the whale slowly swim by was something we'll remember forever! Although an orca or 2 would have been even better! :) It was relaxing, quiet and peaceful and we appreciated it very much. We will be back once our house sells so we can go house hunting yet again! Thank you Ines!"
