  • Lovely Victoria

"We have spent a very pleasant month in the Mermaid Suite. It is so well located for walking to all the downtown areas, only about 10 minutes to Goverment Street and all its attractions. There are many restaurants and Pubs almost around the corner, and we had great meals wherever we went. The Swans Pub's chowder is among the best we have encountered. Francis, the concierge for this unit, was most helpful and picked us up and delivered us to the airport on time and in good humour, inspite of the 4:30 am departure time. Colleen's recommendations for sight seeing and meals were really helpful. Some of the appliances could use a little upgrading. Namely the oven with its unpredictable flashing light and the vacuum cleaner which needs an overhaul. Otherwise this unit was very clean and comfortable. This was a great escape form the eastern winter."

  • Lovely in Everyway!

"This lovely property opposite Beacon Hill Park more than met our needs, perfectly! The location is close to downtown and only 2 blocks from Cook St Village. This would be an ideal location, if you did not wish to rent a car but there is off street parking, if you do. Cook St. Village has just about everything you would need; groceries, health food stores, drug stores, restaurants and great coffee shops! The suite's location is also off the main traffic routes, so it is also very quite. The lower suite is wonderfully appointed with everything you would need to make your meals at home. It's as if the owners lived there and made sure you would have everything imaginable to feel at home. We were there for several months, so we prepared many of our meals in the suite. The two bedrooms are nicely separate, if you wanted to share with family or another couple. The furnishings were up to date and very comfortable for longer stays. The gas fireplace was a real treat and the private, side patio a lovely spot to enjoy our morning coffee. Nancy the manager, was great! Very professional, yet warm and most helpful with anything we might have wanted but honestly there were very few things that needed her attention. This property is a gem and we would make it our first choice, for our next visit to Victoria. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we are missing it already! Susan & Steven"

  • PEACE ON EARTH!

"The Boathouse is a place unto itself. It is a tranquil, peaceful and quaint. There is no other place where I would be willing to walk outside to get to the bathhouse. Oddly, here it just seems natural. The cottage and the bathhouse were squeaky clean. The chairs in the cottage's library were fantastically comfortable and when combined with the view of the bay made for the perfect place to linger over morning coffee. One of my fondest memories of The Boathouse will always be sipping wine while sitting in rocking chairs on the dock. I would caution those who want to experience this great place to pack lightly. The steps down to the cottage are many, but the thoughtful landings make it less of a problem. Harvey and Jean were wonderful hosts. Thank you, Harvey, for suggesting the Brentwood Pub, for dinner. We ended up eating there three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it each night. Thank you, Jean, for telling Curt about Cathedral Grove on Highway #4. We stopped there on our way back to Nanaimo from Ucluelet and loved it. What a beautiful place! It was a peaceful and special place - just like The Boathouse."
