Bright and cheerful
"One of the special features of this home is its location - you drive up and around a mountain on a winding road that eventually runs along the ocean, about 15 minutes from Brentwood Bay. Keep an eye out for deer, bikers, other cars, and--unfortunately--police radar traps. The house is on the water below the road, accessed by a steep driveway (as are most houses along Mark Lane), and near some beautiful hiking trails along the ocean.
The first thing you'll notice upon entering the house is its bright and cheerful quality, with large windows looking out on the water on all 3 levels. The downstairs includes the kitchen and living area facing west and with a high ceiling that keeps the house bright even on darker days. The furniture is clean and comfortable throughout, and the house is wonderfully stocked with everything you need for either a short or longer stay. We particularly liked the tasteful and understated elegance of the decorating scheme, which adds to the overall cheerful quality. We would prefer a king-size bed to the master bedroom and a larger flat-screen TV in the living room with HD instead of SD reception.
Overall, the house has a vibe that says the owners really care about the place and want their guests to have a pleasant stay without complications. It is about 20 minutes from shopping and restaurants, about 30 from Victoria to the south and Sydney to the north. Victoria is a stunningly beautiful place to visit, easy to get around, lush and green and flowering almost everywhere and the ocean all around you. Check out Victoria's amazing bakeries and seafood restaurants as you explore the city and the peninsula. We rent ocean-side properties quite frequently, and it's without reservation that we can recommend "The Cottage" as one of the best homes and locations we've ever discovered. Three cheers to the owners for the care and consideration in offering their home to us!"

"Our family travelled to Victoria from PEI for our son's wedding in July and we stayed at the beautiful Waterlily Lane. The house and property are fantastic and Richard is a very kind, generous and accommodating host. He was even considerate enough to suggest that we hold the rehearsal party there and it was wonderful. There were 5 adults and 3 children in our group and there was lots of room for all of us. We enjoyed everything that the property had to offer and we would absolutely return again. Many thanks Richard and we hope to see you again one day."

"My husband and I stayed at this cute and cozy cottage last week and absolutely loved it! The bed was very cozy and we enjoyed watching netflix movies in the evening.
We were very surprised at how close it was to Victoria. I was running a race early on Sunday morning and we had no trouble getting there and it was only about 15 - maybe 20 minutes away. It was also very easy to get around; it would be difficult to get lost.
The owners were wonderful and we had a great time visiting with them. Even though the owners house is close by the little cottage is still very private. The gardens and the pond were lovely and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and having coffee and wine. It was very nice to be away from the busy-ness of Victoria but still very close by car. The Butchart Gardens were also just a few minutes away and were spectacular! Highly recommended.
This cottage, as well as Deborah and Dave, were absolutely wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip."

"The central location of this Condominium, right in the middle of Old Town Victoria's many wonderful attractions make this place an ideal place to stay. It is conveniently located close to the sea plane to Vancouver, the ferries to Seattle and Port Angeles , China Town and the little shops and restaurants in Old Town. We spent evenings on the private patio eating and drinking and enjoying the view. If you love seafood, crabs, clams, oysters, and native fish, you will definitely have a great vacation here."
