  • Couples paradise

"My husband and I rented this beachfront home on an introductory offer. We found the description of the property accurate. Although, words cannot express the beauty of the view out every window. We spent our days sitting on the huge deck gazing in awe. It is a wonderful place to unwind and regroup, The home sits right on a level beach and recaptures the late 60's in decor. It is small and cozy, yet meets all of one's needs nicely. We found it clean, with quality matching bedding and towels. The kitchen we extremely well equipped and organized. Paul, our host, was very helpful and available to answer all our questions during his almost daily visits to the home. The nearby activities are perfect for the fishermen, boater and outdoorsman. Although there is limited night life in the area, the stars put on quite a show at night. We would recommend this property to anyone who wants to escape the city and enjoys peace and quiet."

  • Lovely rental, but no communication from owners and not as described

"The Nest is actually a lovely, cozy, comfortable rental that I recommend with some reservations. The only communication we had with the owner, Liz, was at the time of the reservation confirmation. She requested, and we paid, the entire cost of the rental up front and she gave us the arrival information. We never received (as requested) a rental agreement and she had no further communication with us after that. On a positive note, the studio is nicely decorated, clean, with almost everything needed for a comfortable stay. The location is across the street from Chesterman Beach, about 4 miles from Tofino. The bike trail is close by, so a bike rental is a nice option and one we took advantage of. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook in, and the grill worked well. Pick up some fresh fish at the Tofino Fish Co! Although there is a TV, the satellite TV did not have a signal and we had no channels at all. We called Liz, who did not answer, and had a full mailbox. We then called Ken, who explained he was on the road and would notify Liz. We never heard back from either. The wireless internet for The Blue Heron had no connectivity at all. There was an excellent signal from an unsecured wireless in the area, so we connected to that. In addition, The Nest actually has no water view and no mountain view, as described. The views are actually in the back of the house/Blue Heron rental, which is across the driveway from The Nest. And although there is a 'shared hot tub' behind the house and Blue Heron rental, there was no information in The Nest to indicate that the renters are welcome to use it. For this reason we did not feel comfortable using it. The coffeepot only makes 12 cups and will not work if less water is added, which was a pretty big waste of water/coffee. Overall, we did actually like this place, but some of the advertised features that convinced me to rent this unit over other places were not provided, so beware! And the owner communication/contact was not acceptable."

  • Great Condo

"We Stayed in this Condo at the beginning of June. This was a wonderful place to set out from and come home to after a busy day sightseeing. The location is fabulous you can walk anywhere. Closer than we thought it would be to the inner harbor. It was beautifully decorated, Had everything you could possibly need. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen well stocked. It was a very warm unit but great cross flow breeze when you opened the window. The secure undercover parking is a real bonus if you have a car. Prompt, friendly reply's to our inquiries before and after we booked. We were met on arrival and given a comprehensive tour of the building and shown how everything worked in the Condo. Also given suggestions on where to buy groceries and recommendations on restaurants and activities. We have never been given this degree of service anywhere else in the world. We really appreciated it. Thank you. If there were to be a negative it would be the noise from the buses below with there motors running if you have the windows open. The plus is there is a bus stop right out front. We would stay again and have recommended it to friends."

"Hi, stayed for an amazing week. Can't beat the view and is an easy walk down to the beach (small crabs, starfish galore). Amenities are as listed, everything that you need! Minutes away from the Duke ferry terminal, Ladysmith and Nanaimo. We were very lucky that the owner, Hamish, was around and he took us for a morning sail at a very reasonable cost. Lunched at the nearby pub, it was wonderful! We also went on an afternoon, self directed, wine tour visiting wineries around Duncan. Will be back for sure!"
