  • Christmas visit

"We had 5 adults stay at the Lake House over Christmas and it was lovely. The full kitchen allowed us to prepare a full Christmas turkey dinner. We enjoyed the hot tub and watching a family of otters on the deck every morning. Goldstream Park is about 5 mins away and worth a visit. It's an easy drive into downtown Victoria too which was beautifully decorated for the season. I'm sure a summer visit would be wonderful!"

  • Amazing view and great location close to town!

"The house is in an incredible location, walking distance to town and Tonquin beach. We were wowed as soon as we walked in by the view from both inside the house and from the deck. Sunsets were incredible and we enjoyed watching the resident bald eagle as he swooped around the property. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was well used and overall the house was a good deal for the money. The house was clean, well maintained and the property managers were pleasant to deal with. Our only complaint was regarding the kitchen....we as regular renters of vacation properties and "foodies" like to do quite a bit of cooking for ourselves. This kitchen was really not set up for that. The stove was not only very complicated to use, but also didn't work about 80% of the time. The dishwasher was iffy at times, the ice machine in the fridge didn't work, the BBQ not that great and the kitchen wasn't that well stocked with serving dishes. We had arranged for a personal chef (Darcy McBride of Dish Personal Chef Service) to cook for us one night and our meal was almost stymied by the stove quitting on us. Thank goodness for the hot plates we found in a storage closet upstairs. I would recommend putting in a simple "north american" gas stove, a new "north american dishwasher, and stocking the kitchen with some more serving dishes in order to make dining at home an easier experience. If you are planning on eating dinner at restaurants most nights, then this house is a perfect match. We highly recommend the Wolf in the Fog for dinner, Tacofino for lunch and Common Loaf for breakfast. Finally, if you are interested in having someone prepare meals for you, contact Darcy McBride #TofinoDish, our experience was incredible. Overall, I would go back to Pacific Retreat, in fact we plan to in August 2017!"

  • Exceptional & Impeccable

"Our stay at the Shores loft exceeded our expectations in every way. We were delighted with the transaction, amenities, & especially the fantastic location & breathtaking view. We whale watched, chartered a float plane, enjoyed massages & fantastic dining ALL walking distance away. So much to do & our teen daughter says her time there was magical. I will recommend this location to family & friends and look forward to returning again soon."

  • Wonderful escape from the city

"We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this wonderfully set and appointed cottage. We booked a year in advance after a work friend's high recommendation. We were not disappointed! The cottage is charmingly rustic yet has every modern amenity required for a comfortable stay with fully equipped kitchen, laundry, entertainment and wifi for your use. The owners are very warm and friendly and go about their animal/garden chores quietly in their adjacent property, making it easy to communicate any needs or to ask for any recommendations on local sightseeing etc. We enjoyed every chance to chat while relaxing in the back garden in between activities we had planned. We had beach days, lots of walks and exploring around local and further afield island areas including day visits to Victoria, Parksville and Nanaimo...all reasonably close car rides. For us, honestly it was one our best vacations ever. Living far away from island and area family it was a joy to be able to invite family for dinners and host- something we have not been able to do from standard hotel rooms. While very hot days saw the West facing kitchen/dining area heat uncomfortably, it was only at late afternoon and bedroom and livingroom areas were much cooler with options of microwaving or bbq to avoid heating kitchen for those times. Our teenage sons both really enjoyed their stay and were enthusiastic about returning for a future vacation. Our 10 month old puppy probably enjoyed his vacation the most, making friends with the family's small dog, and getting tons of walks in the bucolic countryside. Undeniably the best value for your vacationing dollar, our visiting family members loved the setting and thanked us for such a relaxing and pleasant time! We definitely plan to return and highly recommend staying if you are looking for a restful, enjoyable getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life."
