  • Great For Family With Young Kids

"We spent two enjoyable weeks in the South Okanagan Beach Bungalow. The beach was perfect for our 8 and 6 year old. Sand for sandcastles galore and shallow enough that the kids could walk out forever and still only be up to their waist. We rented kids kayaks on the beach for a very reasonable $5 per hour. The bungalow was close enough to the beach that we had no problem loading up the inflatable boat with towels, chairs, cooler and sand toys and walking the 5 minutes. The spray park was fun and the playground excellent. Penticton was a quick 15 minute drive down Eastside Road for mini golf on the cloudy days. Of course a little adult time at the many wineries was also enjoyed. There is no TV service but the WiFi was excellent. We made use of it on our two rainy days to watch some Netflix. Otherwise we were pleased to be off the grid. The bungalow is modest but suited us well as we don't need granite counters and stainless steel on vacation. It is well maintained but definitely 1950's era. It was large enough for our family of four and grandma and grandpa without feeling crowded. The large backyard provided additional play space for frisbee or football tossing. Diana was fantastic at answering all questions and making us feel comfortable in our selection. Definitely consider this well priced option for your vacation."

  • Even better than expected.

"The pictures look amazing, but it was even better in person. Everything was clean and new and wonderful. The beds were soft and the sheets smelled so fresh. The master bathroom was beautiful. The kitchen was open and huge and had everything you could possibly want in a kitchen, and then a lot more. The deck was lovely and the view fabulous. Basically I want to move into this house and live there forever. We were in the area for Ultraman Canada, and it's an easy and scenic drive to Penticton from the house. Also easy to hop on the UMC/Challenge Penticton course on the edge of Skaha Lake. It's close enough to town to not be inconvenient, but far enough out to be away from some of the craziness associated with big races like that. Also close to lots of vineyards, for an after party. If you couldn't guess, yes, I would definitely go back and stay there again."

  • Fantastic, relaxing family vacation

"My wife, 2 small children (6 and 3) and my parents shared the cottage for a wonderful week this year. I would highly recommend it for people looking for some quiet space of their own in a warm and sunny Okanagan setting. Highlights of the cottage: - Quiet, beautiful lake frontage: Vaseux lake doesn't allow motor boats, so it is very quiet and felt like you had the lake to yourself. The water is warm and we spent many hours floating on tubes and mattresses. - Bass fishing from the private dock: 3 generations of my family were fishing off the dock, where a worm and bobber got my 3yr old innumerable bass throughout the week. - Location: 20mins to Penticton, 25 to Osoyoos, fantastic vineyards all around. The only drawbacks we found were: - The second bedroom is only accessible by going outside first. This is OK if you want privacy between groups, but with kids it meant we had to have an adult stay in the bunk bed room with the kids. - As others have mentioned, the stairs to the loft bed are VERY steep."

  • Idyllic in every way...

"We are two couples, best friends, who have just spent four wonderful nights in the Guest House at Big Horn Ridge. The location is of course ideal as a base for visiting the Central and South Okanagan Wineries. The Guest House is beautifully appointed, and lovingly and meticulously maintained, and we had a splendid time. To give an idea of the welcome offered by Roger and Carla, I provide the following little anecdote: upon arriving back at the Guest House from a day of Naramata wine touring, on what was exactly my 70th birthday, we were greeted by Carla who said, "There's been a delivery, and it's perishable." It turned out that a dear friend, from another province, had called and asked Carla (whom we hadn't even met yet) whether there was a place nearby that could put together a gift basket, comprising fruit, cheese, crackers, etc. There being no such business nearby, dear Carla took it upon herself to scout around the area, and created a most wonderful collection of goodies, topped off by a 70th birthday helium-filled balloon. This was truly above and beyond the call, and I was touched beyond words. We'll definitely be back!"
