"We just finished a fantastic week at Sun Peaks and this was just the spot for our family of four. The home is large, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped (everything from sleds in the garage to coffee filters and plastic cling wrap in the kitchen). It really is a ski in/ski out property, even for our 7 year old, and the village was an easy walk for dinner or groceries. In fact, we didn't use our car one time during the week. The owner was very easy to reach and promptly answered questions for us as needed, and gave us the good advice to shop for food in Kamloops, as the offerings in Sun Peaks are pretty limited. We will definitely consider this property for our next Sun Peaks trip!"Guest: Ryan S. Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: February 24, 2014View listing
"We rented this very well appointed chalet on-line and we were pleasantly surprised by everything we found. The ski change/storage area was huge and easily handled all our gear in our group of 11. With each room having its own bathroom and shower we were very happy with the bedroom appointments. Hot tub was checked 3 times in our 5 day visit and thus was clean and functioning properly - nothing like a soak and a bevvy after some amazing Spring skiing on the mountain. The kitchen and shared areas were really great. Lots of space for a group. We really appreciated the back TV area where we stuffed kids on occasion too. Big vaulted ceilings, warm floors (once up to temp -which did take a few hours, but to be expected) and nicely finished areas allowed for a fantastic trip. Much appreciated property!"Guest: Jp M. "Spending the week hiking and biking and a little R&R....the condo is one of the best equipped we have stayed in,and over the years we have stayed in quite a few . I always bring along the little extras I think we might need but so far haven't needed them. The bed is extremely comfortable. Little smoke on the air from the wildfires but nothing to stop us from hiking up to mid mountain today, alpine flowers are starting, seen a few deer, evidence of bears but no sightings:( be forewarned bring the bug spray the time of year......thank you for the fans getting well used with the heat wave we are having ."Guest: Sarah B. "We shared Moosehead Lodge with two other families over the Presidents Day weekend high season. It was very, very expensive, but this is the way to do it: split among 2-3 families to make it more affordable. The house is beautiful, with plenty of room for people to stretch out. It was perfect to have kids hang out on the bottom floor, where's a pool table, hot tub, large screen TV, and video games. Adults hang out in the large living room, kitchen, dining area. We had a great time, and the skiing was fantastic. Now, the negatives. The owners could easily make guests much more comfortable if they would attend to a few details. First, the house phones were not working. Our group ended up paying about $100 in international cell phone charges (we're from the U.S.) to communicate with several other groups of friends who were also at Sun Peaks. When we asked about the phones, all we got was a reply that said, it's an internet-based phone; it should work. Well, it didn't!! Also, the lighting is dim all over. It's especially crucial in the kitchen and in the bathrooms. Second, they provided almost NO TOILETRIES! That just seems cheap. It's easy to have small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotions. We assumed it would be provided, as all the other houses we've rented at Sun Peaks had them. Instead, we needed to buy that. Also, there wasn't enough toilet paper, if you can believe that. We had to take toilet paper from one bathroom to share with the other bathrooms. Not cool! Finally, the driveway is steep, and when covered with snow an ice, it's a REAL HAZARD. Two people in our party slipped and fell. One broke a bone! If you're going to spend millions to build a luxury home, why not have heat the driveway? Or at the least, pay for a plowing service to come each morning after it snows. The owners should realize that the driveway is a real liability. Some day, some guest will bring a lawsuit after getting injured. Words of advice: iron out all those details with the owners prior to renting. Insist on toiletries, enough toilet paper, and a working phone. Try to get them to put in brighter light bulbs. And very importantly, ask them to hire a plow or snowblower service for the hazardous driveway. If you do all that, you will have a wonderful time!"Guest: Jo C.
