  • The perfect get-away.

"We adored staying at Otter Lane! Lovely carriage house design..private, beautiful gardens, inviting patio and deck, classy decor and design. Extremely well stocked, so warm and inviting - Caroline and Larry are the most wonderful hosts. Lovely country setting. So laid back and relaxing, wine tours in the area. A short drive over to the ocean in White Rock, the Canadian/US border or to Historical Fort Langley for a great day of sight seeing, strolling around downtown. Truly stellar place to stay....one couldn't ask for anything more! Cheers.."

  • Quaint and Cozy

"My husband and I stayed at Grumpy Cat Cottage for 12 nights, with our adult children and their dogs visiting for part of that stay. We found the cottage to be exactly as described; clean, comfortable, and the large property and waterfront area was enjoyed every day of our stay. It was wonderful to be able to have bonfires in the evenings (the fire ban was lifted) and John provided lots of firewood. Leslie and John left a surprising amount of groceries in the cottage which made us feel even more welcomed. We loved Sechelt and the surrounding areas and totally enjoyed exploring the many beaches and parks in that part of the Sunshine Coast. As adults, we were all very comfortable at Grumpy Cat; however, we did find the noise from the seaplanes very loud and irritating which is something one probably gets used to in time. There was also a lot of hammering and banging going on during the day from house construction next door; again, there was nothing John or Leslie could do about that and by next summer that intrusion should be a thing of the past. I would certainly come back to Grumpy Cat Cottage again but I would not bring small children or the elderly there IF needing to use the 'loft' bedroom for them. It is simply too hazardous of a climb for small children or anyone with a disability. The other two bedrooms on the main floor are perfectly comfortable. Knowing that John and Leslie were next door was a comfort if we needed anything, but they gave us our privacy and we never felt 'watched'. Overall, our vacation was a bounding success and we would love to return to Sechelt again in the near future. Thanks John and Leslie; Grumpy Cat Cottage is a lovely property."

  • Great location and fantastic views

"I must admit I was a little concerned when we booked this property, since the reviews were pretty old, but we booked any way, and were pretty happy with our stay. While not the quickest responses, and a few queries over rate, as owners website and VRBO quoted different rates, we booked this property for a few nights prior to catching the ferry to Vancouver Island. The property is located in the lower ground floor of the owners house, it is accessed via some rather steep steps to the side of the property, and through a lockable patio door. The suite was spotlessly clean, and two large bedrooms at either end, one with two singles and one with a large king size bed. plenty of storage available and bedroom safe. The lounge area has two large sofas, but the dining area is rather small and compact. We eat outside in the lovely gardens. The suite is decorated in good quality dark wood furniture. The gallery kitchen offers limited cooking facilities, a full hob, but only a very small compact counter top 'oven' , it took three slices of bread , as was also the grill and toaster. We eat out most evenings, so not a problem, but the size may be an issue to others. There wasn't a toaster, which would have been useful. There was a bit of an eclectic mix of crockery and glasses. The bathroom was very clean, but a lock on the door may have to go on the TO DO list !! All of the windows have amazing views across to down town Vancouver. Some tourist info may be useful, but we were familiar with the area. There is some noise from 'upstairs' walking around, doors closing, and some background TV noise, although It didn't disturb us. The Owner has a small workshop area, outside the main bedroom window, a little disconcerting to see him outside your window at times !! I was a little concerned before we stayed, as the owners website refers you to the calendar of the VRBO website, and the dates we booked three months prior to staying, were still showing as available , but all was fine. The suite provides a good quality accommodation, ideal for Vancouver and ferries at Horse Shoe bay and an great alternative to a hotel."

  • Great stay

"Really enjoyed our stay at the condo. Everything we needed for a long weekend at Whistler. Could walk to the mountain, and to upper village. And a longer walk or short cab ride everywhere else. Quality kitchen, with all you can need for big dinner or pizza/wine. The owner was very accessible throughout."
