Recent Sunshine Coast reviews

"This new cottage is absolutely gorgeous! At high tide the water is just in front of you and the view is stunning and unimpeded by other buildings or significant boat traffic. Inside the lovely fireplace kept it very toasty along with heated flooring in the bathroom and electric heating for when the fire ran down. Equipped with everything you need it is a great place to escape from the world and enjoy being immersed in nature while relaxing in five star comfort. Their is also a little private lounge area by the water including an outdoor fireplace that combined with the stunning sunset, made for a brilliant evening."

  • A wonderful getaway!

"What a find! This great little cabin exceeded our expectations and is even better than the photos! My partner and I spent 2 nights here while mountain biking around the Sunshine Coast. The cabin is fully equipped, very cozy, private and clean. The outdoor/bbq area was fantastic. Going to sleep each night listening to the nearby stream was very peaceful and the beach access is just across the street. The owners are professional, it was well priced and we would definitely recommend!"

  • Family gathering

"WOW! What a place and what a location. We were a group of 8 assorted close family over 3 generations and with 2 dogs. Eagles nest was just perfect for us. When 8 year old Sam walked into the house he said "Holy Macaroni" ! The house is stunning and Murray has equipped it so thoughtfully. We had fantastic weather and were able to swim in the cove and make use of the kayaks. The children loved Katherine Lake and were thrilled to see the Painted Turtles there as well as so many Eagles, Humming Birds, Deer, Chipmunks huge Starfish and Seals round the house. Sadly no Orcha - this time! The huge games room was a great success and so cool when it was too hot to be active outside. A really great family holiday with plenty of space to all enjoy quiet time as well as have fun together. Very special memories were made and we are still talking about it. Would love to return sometime or better still, win the lottery and make Murray an offer he can't refuse !!!"

  • Springtime at the Boathouse

"Stayed at the Boathouse for four nights and loved it - gorgeous sweeping view of the ocean. Sheltered location; minimal wind. Stunning sunset can be viewed right from the couch through the glass doors. Very cozy feel to the place. Wood stove heats the room in a jiffy. Loved the electric heater in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable enough for a good, sound sleep. The place was quite clean and the fridge spotless. Property is great for exploring along the creek or a quick walk up to the top of the hill; Smuggler Cove is a short drive away for a longer walk. Well equipped with a few DVDs/VHS, puzzles, games, magazines, spare blankets, information about the local area. A few little things that could use improvement - mildew stains and some broken tiles around the base of the shower, the BBQ has issues but still cooked our food on the two working flames, no plastic flipper for the non-stick pans, barely-working can-opener (though the kitchen was quite well-equipped compared to other cottages we've stayed at). The larger row boat leaked quite heavily but we didn't discover this until we'd hauled it down to the water. Took it back up and tried again with the little dingy and it worked fine for a little trip to the island at the mouth of the inlet on a calm day during low tide (thankfully we don't weigh much!). There's a loud creek nearby and the inlet is really sheltered; you won't hear waves, but you'll hear the creek, which is still a lovely sound. Bring along binoculars to get better views of the various birds on the inlet and see the seals around the rocks. People also wrote in the guest book about viewing orcas and dolphins. ***Mobility Warning*** it's not just a concrete walkway to the cottage; it's a steep set of rock/concrete stairs. They're well-built, sturdy, and totally fine for most people, but for those with hip/knee issues or unsteady on their feet it could be difficult. ***OVERALL*** We loved the place in spite of the few deficiencies and would definitely go back again! It's a charming cottage perfect for a weekend of reading, painting, relaxing, napping, bird-watching, or just staring at the ocean."
