"We planned a family Christmas so the whole family could gather together. We could not have picked a more perfect place. From the tasteful Christmas decorations and tree that welcomed us upon our arrival, to the attention given to provide toys, high chair and cot for our 18 month grandson every detail was spectacular. Our hosts went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a memorable one.
The condo itself was "Everything and More" that we could have wished for. From the short stoll to the beach, to the boutique coffe shops and restaurants all within walking distance the location was perfect.
If the opportunity arises again this would definately be our "go to" home away from home in Vancouver."

"My family of 6 recently stayed 12 nights here after which we left for a week in the Canadian Rockies then tried out another vacation rental in a different part of Vancouver for 9 nights before we took off for home. We like staying in different neighborhoods to get a feel of the local area. In 2012, we stayed in Yaletown. For 2015, we wanted to try Kitsilano and the Trout Lake/Nanaimo area. While staying at our second rental, we realized and unanimously came to the conclusion that Derek's place in the Kitsilano area was so much better suited for our needs as a family for the following reasons. We cook quite often and Safeway just two block away was very convenient. We bought packets of Faresaver tickets there too. After a long day of sightseeing, as the bus dropped us off right by Safeway, we could easily buy groceries and food for our planned home cooked dinner. Since the house was just a short walk away, it was also no big deal carrying bags of groceries. Taking the bus was very convenient because we had several choices of bus stops - West Broadway, MacDonald and 4th Ave. All of these streets had frequent buses whizzing by so the wait was never long. An added plus are the many wonderful restaurants nearby for the times when we were too tired or lazy to cook. The very busy Peaceful Restaurant on Broadway that we tried on our previous 2012 trip has a branch on 4th Ave and we returned specifically for their delicious beef rolls. The Thomas Haas Chocolates patisserie on West Broadway was also a delicious find for their chocolate croissants and the chocolate raspberry cake I got for my husband's birthday. Rain or Shine ice cream on 4th Ave was a hit with us too. We like walking and with the mild spring weather, we walked a lot, frequently to 4th Ave and West Broadway, several times to Kitsilano Beach and even to church nearby to attend services. I could go on and on about the advantages of this location! To top it all, Derek is a wonderful host. His place is lovely and clean. We had more than enough towels, bars of soap and new bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The kitchen was complete for all our cooking requirements. The TV with cable enabled us to watch the NBA games that we were avidly following. The neighborhood is safe and we enjoyed very much walking the tree lined streets and looking at the pretty character homes. We had a wonderful memorable vacation and I can heartily say, Thank you Derek!"

"I travel to Vancouver often and Alma Beach Suites is my perfect landing spot in Kitsilano. The apartments and suites are ALL clean, bright and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. From the small library at the front door to the fresh fruit that often greets you on arrival,.the owners have paid attention to all the details to insure that your stay is perfect. The location in Kits is ideal for walking to the beach, parks, and great nearby restaurants. UBC is close, and the city center is a breeze to get to. Tucked into a quiet mellow neighborhood, parking is simple if you drive in or the bus stop is only 1/2 block away. Very very well done.!!"

"This is a very comfortable and elegant house in a cute, safe and convenient neighborhood. A friend and I and our 2 teenage daughters spend 5 days here for sightseeing and soccer tourism. The house has 3 nice bedrooms, TV room, living room, great kitchen, beautiful garden, laundry, elegant furniture, etc. The landlords are very kind and helpful with advice on getting around/dining/etc. if needed.
The location is in a quiet tree-lined older neighborhood in Kits area close to downtown and you can walk in just a few min to great food/beach/bus routes/grocery/parks/shopping/etc. Some terrific bakeries (Sollys for cinnamon rolls) and restaurants (Nuba!). We rented bikes close by, there are many safe bike paths nearby (even for kids). Very easy to catch bus into town (15-20min).
Drawbacks? Not many come to mind, but parking is tight. Careful backing up in driveway due to a close by tree. A car is helpful to go hiking in mountains but otherwise is not needed at all. Taxi from airport is ~$25-30 (20min).
Conclusion: It was great. We would definitely come back."
