  • Awsome chalet

"Our extended family stayed in this beautiful chalet over Christmas and New Years and absolutely loved it. It is very spacious and the open concept layout is perfect for a large group. The kitchen was a chef's dream and it was extremely well equipped, as was the whole place. Our grandchildren found lots to keep them busy and want to go back. The owners were extremely nice and even went to the trouble of putting up Christmas decorations and a tree for us, which really made us feel at home and the property manager Damon is a super nice man. We would definitely rent this chalet again should the need arise."

  • Winter getaway

"Lovely view, quiet and charming. Short drive from St. John's. Would have been nice to have some home heating prior to arrival. Took many hours for home to warm up. New corkscrews needed. Very little toliet tissue. Had to go buy some. Great layout. Excellent area for entertaining."

  • Very enjoyable stay

"My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Lark Harbor. The Heritage house was all that I expected it to be. The home was clean, nicely decorated and with a homey comfortable feel to it. It was nicely renovated with hard wood floors and all the amenities to make our stay pleasurable. We dined on lobster bought at Allen s fish market with the complimentary wine we received upon arrival from Helen. We explored the areas trails that led to some spectacular views at Bottle Cove. We were situated directly across the bay from Blow Me Down provincial park. Helen provided us with an information package the clearly identified all the trails their location, length and difficulty. All in all I would highly recommend this place and the area for vacationers who enjoy hiking and beautiful scenery."

  • All the charm of St. John's

"After having lived in St. John's for four years, I am now a regular visitor for work and vacation. Previously, we have also stayed in both hotels and short term apartment-style rentals in the downtown area. So, we know the city fairly well, and have a good sense of the types of accommodations options that are available. On our recent trip, I was looking for a larger apartment/house for my young family of 5. We found Hare's Ears and stayed for most of the month of November. And we loved it! Hare's Ears is a well appointed, and recently renovated home in St. John's historic Battery. It is clean with ample room for 2 adults, 3 children and a grandparent. The main part of the house is well setup for hosting, with a well-equipped and open concept kitchen, dining area, and living room. The two bedrooms are comfortable, and the bathroom is modern. There is also a fully equipped studio apartment/granny suite on the ground level. The house has many windows that look directly towards the harbour and city, providing stunning views of St. John's ever-changing weather. The home is located conveniently close to hiking trails, with one trail head only steps from the front door, and Signal Hill towering overhead. The home is a bit further away from downtown than many hotels, but is similar distance compared to other short-terms apartment rentals. Downtown is still walkable in about 10-20 minutes, and there are lovely dining options near the base of Signal Hill including International Flavour (Pakistani), Gracie Joes (Bistro/cafe), and Mallard Cottage (one of the best new restaurants in Canada!). Despite this, a car is still a big help. Our only complaints were that driving into this part of the Battery was difficult in winter weather, and that the keyless entry (via a keypad) did not work. Fortunately, the owners, Ken and Jane were accessible, and provided us with a key. They were also very helpful in assisting us with a few quirky requests. We highly recommend staying at Hare's Ears in both the high or low seasons. It will give you as great flavour of the city, and you will quickly and easily feel at home."
