  • A perfect October destination!

"My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in mid-October. Though the weather did not cooperate and we had a fair bit of rain and got to experience the famous Les Suetes winds, we had a great time, The cottage is very comfortable, clean, and well equipped, and the view of the national park and the mountains is awesome, especially when the the leaves are turning. Fairly secluded, you barely know there are are other houses around as the cottage is on a bluff overlooking the Cheticamp River and the park. Yet we were so close to the restaurants and entertainment of Cheticamp 10 mins away and just a 5 minute drive to the main entrance to the park. The park is fantastic with great views and hiking trails. The wildlife is a top attraction although due to weather the animals seemed to keep a low profile on this trip. Would definitely stay here again!"

  • Top of the World !

"We booked in for a week and when we found out we could stay longer we jumped at the chance! This property is amazing. clean!, new!, full size laundry,(a big hit), but the best for last...THE VIEW! wonderful view of the ocean with a gorgeous sunset every night. We happen to be there when one of the owners set us up with a lobster steamer out back. After a 2 min. drive to the fisherman's co-op for lobster and within no time we were enjoying lobster, wine and the sun-set on the deck overlooking the ocean. priceless!"

  • Perfect for us!

"We stayed 6 nights with our 5 year old daughter...who had her own room! Washer/dryer and a full kitchen was a bonus for us with a young child who needed a "home away from home" during her 2 week stay in Nova Scotia. TV, DVD player, and internet were appreciated after a long day in the national park. Our only complaint would be the very bright sunlight coming in through the windows at 4:30am! (Tin foil curtains quickly fix that!) From the back porch you can watch the lobster boats coming and going (the fisherman wave back!) and the beautifully maintained yard was perfect for our daughter to release her energy after a long car ride. The beach is close, but very rocky (no sand) which was perfect for us. She would have been happy navigating the rocks all day. We were able to find rocks to just sit upon, watch for whales (never saw any), and complete the Cape Breton National Park guidebook they give to young children. (Anyone with young children should inquire about this guidebook when you purchase your pass. It is a terrific way to keep children engaged and to lend meaning to their experiences.) Neil's Harbour has one very small grocery/co-op store so we shopped in Port Hawkesbury before coming, but you can pick up anything you might have forgotten there. There is also a small pharmacy in town. There are 2 restaurants and a highly frequented ice cream shop. We made day trips to Ingonish, Mary Ann Falls (our favorite), Cheticamp, and various beaches. We took a puffin cruise from Big Bras d'Or which was a 2 hour drive...take the Englishtown ferry to save time...but we saw tons of birds and seals. We felt Neil's Harbour was a perfect spot to stay in order to fully explore the national park without rushing or spending a lot of time in the car. The best testimony is from our daughter who said at the end of our stay, "I don't ever want to leave here.""

  • Can't say enough good things about this place!

"This is a beautiful, spacious cottage with an amazing view. Peaceful, practical, and comfortable. It had everything we needed/wanted and nothing that we didn't. Close to the fishing village of Cheticamp and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. John (owner) was a great resource. WiFi worked great. We want to go back!"
