  • L'ecole Rouge

"We had a great stay at l'ecole rouge. Every day we awoke to the most amazing views. We had great fun watching the fishermen and the birds on the ocean. The property is clean and well maintained. We had 6 adults stay. There was a lot of room for everyone and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The owner was very easy to reach and answered all of questions."

  • great for a girlfriends or family getaway

"This was a great house for our multi-generational group. My sister and I (60 years old) took our 80+ year old aunts on a short trip to Nova Scotia. This place was just perfect. They had the downstairs bedroom and bathrooms and we each had our own bedroom and bath upstairs. The kitchen was well equipped. Loved the décor, it is unique and comfortable. Any question I had before and during the visit, the owner answered quickly (via email or text) and was a lot of help. Donna across the road was available if I had any questions while there, and she had great hints. It is 'around the curve' from Peggy's Cove and the back door looks out a cove of its own. The internet was fast and helpful for making reservations for the return trip home. We had breakfast in the farmhouse...and then ventured out the rest of the meals. Great home base for visiting Halifax, Lunenberg, Peggys' cove. The Beds were so comfortable and I am going to ask where the quilts on the bed were from, I want one for my home, it was so comfy. Each room had its own thermostat, so if you preferred a cooler room for sleeping, as I do, it was great or if you were my 80+ year old Aunts and needed a warmer room to sleep in, that also was possible."

  • Simply the best!

"This place is a slice of paradise, a gem so beautiful, precious and rare. We are extremely lucky to have stumbled upon it from the other end of the globe! If we could get married again anywhere in the world we would still choose your surreal little spot and go through all the stress, difficulty and added expense of having a wedding far far away from where we are both based. It was so worth it! There wasn't a single guest at the wedding who didn't compliment us on our choice of venue and ask how we managed to find it. I am sure there are many young lads and ladies who attended our wedding already dreaming of having their big day at the same venue. In fact, our sweet photographer from Sambino's photography told us she would love to do the same! That says it all, doesn't it? Photographers recognise beauty best and she was beyond ecstatic when she first saw the place! The house itself was so homey and had just the right amount of space for the 10 of us, there were no squabbles over showers and toilet space. The beds were gloriously comfortable, we all got our beauty sleep. ;-) We even got our 83 year old Nana to play basketball with us (for the very first time), that's how relaxed and at home she was. The kitchen was incredible and had every gadget we could possibly want, we managed to cook two Indian hors d'oeuvres, two big pots of curry and rice, two massive roasts, spuds and vegetables and generous amounts of banana cake for the 70 odd guests at our wedding; all of the above with around 15 mini chefs involved in the process, need we say more? Now coming to our next favourite part, a part so special to everyone who experienced it (No prizes for guessing!). Thank you Paul, for that wonderful evening you shared with us and for the most incredibly delicious lobster dinner you cooked for us. You are a most hospitable and warm host and a fantastic chef. Those who had lobster for the first time, were at a loss for words (All that they could say was mmmm and yessummmm :-) ). The Haligonians themselves couldn't believe how good the lobster was! Enough said. Thank you again for your warmth and hospitality. Thank you for putting up with our music/noise so graciously. Thank you for rescuing us from our toilet paper crisis at 2 am during our wedding reception. Thank you for the most memorable lobster dinner. Thanks for giving us the most perfect wedding! Thanks for everything! Wishing you both and everyone else involved with the house the best, always!"

  • Seaside Cottage

"If you're looking for the perfect beach cottage..this is it. The beach is right across from the cottage and the water is warm and shallow..perfect for small kids. Lovely front porch to sit and listen to the surf and have a few drinks. It's close to the Cabot trail and to Mabou where the Rankin family has a lovely restaurant with live music. The owners wife left beach glass books on the table and now I'm hooked. Check out THE BUS..the hamburgers are fabulous. Kick back and unwind or shop in all the small seaside towns. The cottage has everything you need and the owner is so helpful and friendly. I wish this cottage was mine !!!"
