  • Heaven Exists

"Beautiful...nope. Idyllic...nope. Awesome...nope. Memorable...nope. Utopian...nope. I guess there is no single word that would describe this little piece of heaven on earth. After just two days there we thirsted for more than our allotted week, at which point the fates intervened and we were able to extend our stay. Many thanks to you, Morry, your cottage is ... all of the above and we will someday return!"

  • Great spot; wonderful home

"The house is as described..and also immaculate upon arrival; well appointed with all that we needed . Nothing better than sitting on the deck looking at pond and ocean except maybe biking to the LeHave Bakery. Lots to explore..Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Lehave and three beaches all within walking distance..The owners are immediately responsive and helpful. No complaints!"

  • Simply the best!

"This place is a slice of paradise, a gem so beautiful, precious and rare. We are extremely lucky to have stumbled upon it from the other end of the globe! If we could get married again anywhere in the world we would still choose your surreal little spot and go through all the stress, difficulty and added expense of having a wedding far far away from where we are both based. It was so worth it! There wasn't a single guest at the wedding who didn't compliment us on our choice of venue and ask how we managed to find it. I am sure there are many young lads and ladies who attended our wedding already dreaming of having their big day at the same venue. In fact, our sweet photographer from Sambino's photography told us she would love to do the same! That says it all, doesn't it? Photographers recognise beauty best and she was beyond ecstatic when she first saw the place! The house itself was so homey and had just the right amount of space for the 10 of us, there were no squabbles over showers and toilet space. The beds were gloriously comfortable, we all got our beauty sleep. ;-) We even got our 83 year old Nana to play basketball with us (for the very first time), that's how relaxed and at home she was. The kitchen was incredible and had every gadget we could possibly want, we managed to cook two Indian hors d'oeuvres, two big pots of curry and rice, two massive roasts, spuds and vegetables and generous amounts of banana cake for the 70 odd guests at our wedding; all of the above with around 15 mini chefs involved in the process, need we say more? Now coming to our next favourite part, a part so special to everyone who experienced it (No prizes for guessing!). Thank you Paul, for that wonderful evening you shared with us and for the most incredibly delicious lobster dinner you cooked for us. You are a most hospitable and warm host and a fantastic chef. Those who had lobster for the first time, were at a loss for words (All that they could say was mmmm and yessummmm :-) ). The Haligonians themselves couldn't believe how good the lobster was! Enough said. Thank you again for your warmth and hospitality. Thank you for putting up with our music/noise so graciously. Thank you for rescuing us from our toilet paper crisis at 2 am during our wedding reception. Thank you for the most memorable lobster dinner. Thanks for giving us the most perfect wedding! Thanks for everything! Wishing you both and everyone else involved with the house the best, always!"

  • An Absolute Gem!!

"While visiting relatives in the area for a week, we chose to find our own accommodations during our stay. Thankfully we found The Loon's Nest. It met all of our needs and desires, plus some! What a gem!! We were not the least bit disappointed and would highly recommend staying here. We will never be satisfied with a hotel room again. The pictures provided on VRBO website are a true representation of the cottage - but it's even better in person! It's very clean, well maintained and well thought out...inside and out. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, full size refrigerator, stove/oven and two coffee machines. No line ups for the bathroom as there are two. The beds are very comfortable with beautiful bedding. Lots of nice quality towels and linen. The laundry appliances made for light packing. We were never cold. Each room could be control to suit an individual's preference as there are baseboard heaters. And there's a cozy fireplace in the living room. The cottage is in a nice quiet, low traffic neighbourhood. The owners have designed the property to ensure privacy. Communications with the owners is beyond excellent! Thank you Donna and Terry for the opportunity to rent your beautiful cottage. It was the cherry on the top of our vacation."
