  • Lovely Nova Scotia Escape

"My family spent a week in this lovely home during the summer. The house is very charming. It is large, spacious and was beautifully furnished with a keen eye to detail. It felt like a family home - not a vacation rental property. The kitchen was new and I loved cooking in it. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out over the bay. The property is large and provided plenty of space for my children to run and play - they particularly enjoyed hunting for sea life along the shoreline. Each bedroom had its own character and the house is very close to the towns of Mahone Bay and Lunenburg so getting around was quick and easy. I would highly recommend this house as a place to stay with your family. We had a terrific time."

  • AWESOME

"The Bella Vista Cottage was awesome. As soon as we walked into this home, we knew we would love our time here. The cottage had upscale furnishings, including a nice size flat screen TV, a very comfortable sofa, fast internet service, and most importantly, a magnificent view. That view was the best place we have ever stayed and came with a large sail boat anchored right out in front of the cottage. We felt very comfortable and safe in this little community of homes. The Cottage had excellent linens and appliances. The showers were a delight to use…very roomy and easy to maintain. Needless to say, there was more than enough space since there were only 2 of us. But it would be very comfortable for 6 people, including teens or two couples. We enjoyed exploring Chester and found the Fo’c’sle restaurant food very good. We also used the gas grill at the Cottage. If you rent this place, you will not be disappointed."

  • Good Location

"My wife and I stayed two weeks in this apartment in midsummer. The apartment is a little dreary with poor views out of the windows, however the apartment is clean, safe and secure, a block away from a large grocery store and a liquor store, and near the east end of the boardwalk. The beds were comfortable , all extra towels , toilet paper, garbage bags and paper towels were provided. We ate all our meals in the apartment. The kitchen had most everything you would want except for a chef knife for cutting and chopping and perhaps a large pot for cooking lobsters. We bought two 2lb. lobsters at one of the fish markets on the road to Bedford and had a hard time getting both in the largest pot in the kitchen. The rent on the apartment seems a little high but there appears to be few condo or apartments for rent for a week or two in Halifax."

  • A Sweetheart of a Place

"Far Far Away Guesthouse is comfortable, cozy and uniquely styled- we enjoyed the decor and artwork. Jay was sweet to leave us a card and bottle of wine as I mentioned it was our anniversary. He was easy to communicate with, very laid back, and overall the perfect host. The cottage is well stocked with extras and some basic food supplies- coffee, sugar, etc, so there is very little one would need to run to the store to get. Close to Mahone Bay (Mug & Anchor restaurant, Jennifer's Bakery are MUSTS) and Chester Basin, (The Galley was wonderful/romantic). The Chester Connector trail goes over the Gold River and along the old train route- we found the area breathtaking. The beauty of this spot is it's out-of-the-way location, while being close to everything one comes to Nova Scotia to see. Caveats: The bathroom is quite cramped, but we managed. The water pump was so loud I didn't wish to flush the toilet or take an early morning shower because I didn't wish to awaken my partner. But I wouldn't hestitate to come back to visit again- I'd just bring earplugs for my honey. It fit with our style of traveling- a base camp for our explorations. It's less than an hour from Ross Farm Museum up Route 12, Martock (OnTree Park) up route 14 and Halifax, up highway 103."
