  • Great Place to Stay

"This was an excellent location to stay while visiting our family. Bruce met us at the property and gave us a thorough orientation. The location is close to the subway and shopping. The condo was clean, modern and allowed for plenty of room to spread out in. I particularly appreciated the Christmas tree that was in the living room. We look forward to staying here again in the future."

  • A Getaway with a Difference

"Vineeta and I are travelers, having been to about 25 countries across the world and over 100 destination cities. We also do the regular weekend trips around Toronto which is where we hang our humble hats. It was by happenstance while browsing the internet that we came across the Hoblet. We were instantly attracted by the good work that Petra and Mush were doing in rehabilitating less unfortunate animals. We read the reviews and looked at the pictures and decided to go for it. The internet does not do justice to what your eyes see and you experience when you reach. Nestled in the country, just about 90 odd minutes from Toronto, far from the maddening crowd yet close enough to Niagara regions attractions, it was a great choice. The welcome was warm, the weather was bright and the animals greeted us like long lost friends. In no time we were settled in, a hot cuppa was on the make and we took in the beautiful winter ambiance. Adults and Kids alike would love the animals and enjoy feeding them some apples, carrots or pears. As Niagara was only a 15 minute drive away, we did go down and do the usual tourist bit but we also enjoyed the country drive and a short visit to the town of Port Colbourne. Petra is very familiar with the attractions around so was very helpful in guiding us to some nice places to see. All in all, a great weekend, topped off by our team winning the Super Bowl. This was our white winter experience and now we look forward to a visit when the green will welcome us. Thanks Petra, Mush and the critters. Gautam and Vineeta Nath Toronto, Canada"

  • Michelle, Durham

"We really enjoyed our stay at Chisholm House in Burlington. Brian was a great host and couldn't do enough for us. The house is Located in a very nice quiet neighbourhood opposite the lovely Brock Park, it stands in a great location, close to Downtown Burlington. Parking for two cars was great especially if you have family visiting. The house retains its old charm on the outside while having all modern amenities on the inside. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this to anyone."

  • Great beach/lake for families

"We just returned from a week at this cottage on Lake Farlain. It was a low-key family vacation with our 2-year-old twins and their grandparents, though we did have a few additional family members stay a couple of nights at a time. For the most part, we all fit comfortably on the upper/main level of the cottage in the 3 spacious bedrooms, updated bathroom, living room and kitchen areas. However, the nights that we did have additional guests, we were required to use the fourth bedroom located on the lower level of the cottage. I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with the beach front and lake. It was much better than I had even anticipated. The lake is relatively small, though large enough for power boating, waterskiing, and jet skis. Very calm and shallow, sandy water leading to deep enough water to swim at the end of the dock. Our toddlers absolutely loved playing in the sand and wading in and out of the water without us having to be hypervigilant. The property the cottage is on is fairly large and private as well with no immediate neighbours to one side and several cottages fairly well spaced out to the opposite side. The cottage came equipped with many staples that could be needed, like cleaning supplies, toys and games, lots of towels, and most everything you would need for cooking in the kitchen. The cleaner had done an immaculate job prior to our arrival as well. I had no complaints about the main level of the cottage at all! However, the main problem we experienced was with the basement/4th bedroom area. It appeared fine, but smelled and felt damp right off the bat. However, when we did have a few extra bodies visiting at night, we quickly learned that there is a major earwig/bug problem in the basement that came out at night. They were everywhere... coming out of the ceiling tiles and lights above the bed and throughout the basement! Our guests actually moved up to the living area floor their first night and set up their tent outside on the second night because that was preferable to the "fourth bedroom". We are all well experienced with spending time up north and cottaging, and recognize there are always bugs to a certain extent, but this was well above and beyond anything we have ever experienced! I really feel this cottage should be advertised as only a 3-bedroom and priced accordingly for that reason! Other than that, we had a fantastic trip! I would replace steps from the deck to yard as they are steep and dangerous though."
