  • A Getaway with a Difference

"Vineeta and I are travelers, having been to about 25 countries across the world and over 100 destination cities. We also do the regular weekend trips around Toronto which is where we hang our humble hats. It was by happenstance while browsing the internet that we came across the Hoblet. We were instantly attracted by the good work that Petra and Mush were doing in rehabilitating less unfortunate animals. We read the reviews and looked at the pictures and decided to go for it. The internet does not do justice to what your eyes see and you experience when you reach. Nestled in the country, just about 90 odd minutes from Toronto, far from the maddening crowd yet close enough to Niagara regions attractions, it was a great choice. The welcome was warm, the weather was bright and the animals greeted us like long lost friends. In no time we were settled in, a hot cuppa was on the make and we took in the beautiful winter ambiance. Adults and Kids alike would love the animals and enjoy feeding them some apples, carrots or pears. As Niagara was only a 15 minute drive away, we did go down and do the usual tourist bit but we also enjoyed the country drive and a short visit to the town of Port Colbourne. Petra is very familiar with the attractions around so was very helpful in guiding us to some nice places to see. All in all, a great weekend, topped off by our team winning the Super Bowl. This was our white winter experience and now we look forward to a visit when the green will welcome us. Thanks Petra, Mush and the critters. Gautam and Vineeta Nath Toronto, Canada"

  • Great Girls Getaway!

"Perfect size for 6 girlfriends to share for a long weekend in NOTL. Loved having so much room to eat and play games around the large dining room table. And plenty of beds since we don't like to share if we don't have to. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful neighborhood and down to the lake. The weather was cool, so we stayed inside; but I can see enjoying the porch and backyard in warmer weather. A bit of a hike into town, but do-able. Highly recommend!"

  • Reunion of friends

"My friends and I used to do a big reunion every year to catch up and reminisce on the good ol’ days. After a 4 year hiatus, we found the farmhouse and it couldn’t have been a better spot to get us all together. Coming from London and the GTA, the location was easy enough to get to for everyone. There was lots of space for everyone to sleep and lots of washrooms so no waits. The big harvest table in the dining room was perfect for group meals which were prepared in the great kitchen. The barn was a fun place to hangout and provides some nice separation from the house if anyone wants some quiet time from the group. The owner was excellent to deal with and was never short on suggestions on how best to enjoy the farm. We’d like to come back in the summer for a longer stay so that we could experience more of the farm."

  • A relaxing week in a beautiful and comfortable setting!

"We have just returned from a fantastic week at Miller Lake on The Bruce Peninsula. The lake is about 3 miles long and provides enough space for some water excursions without ever getting too busy. The area has maintained an unspoilt and uncommercial feel to it so you really do feel like you can step back in time and relax in style! We spent our time messing around on the lake going on short excursions in the canoe. As we started to feel more adventurous we hired various water craft from Summer House including kayaks, water bikes and a motor boat. Trips to Tobermory for dinner (The Crowsnest Pub was a favourite) and a bit of wandering around was good fun. We also went lighthouse spotting and on a boat trip to Flowerpot Island which was excellent. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The setting was perfect and we had a fantastic week. Thanks for letting us borrow your cottage! We'll be back."
