  • Thanksgiving in the County

"Just got back from a fantastic couple of nights stay at the Four Poplars with my wife and parents. This beautiful suite is the perfect base to experience the PEC area. Our host Renee was so warm and inviting, and provided some amazing recommendations of places to go eat and find local produce. We definitely all came away dreaming of a return visit."

  • More beautiful in person than in the pictures

"We were heading back home from visiting our daughter in Montreal for a week. We were tired and wanted to break the drive back in half. So, why not stop off in our favourite town of Picton? Ed and Donna were so kind to accommodate us. I almost cried when Ed took us up to our suite. It was BEAUTIFUL. There was so much attention given to detail. The space is so well though out and decorated. Believe me when I say that the pictures on this website don't do the place justice. We were hungry and my husband walked to the Sobey's to get us some food. The next day we walked to a restaurant that Ed recommended. I love that you can walk into town in minutes. When I got home I immediately told family and friends about this gem. We are definitely coming back - for longer. Ed and Donna, thank so much for your kindness and for taking us in. See you again."

  • Charming, Comfortable, Clean, Convenient

"Summer Hill has the convenience and comfort of "home", very clean, comfortable beds and plush linens. Perfect accommodations for 3 couples. The ladies walked downtown to shop and the guys walked to the Pub. Great coffee shop across the street and the food was wonderful at the Irish Harp Pub, also directly across the street. Highly recommend this house."

  • Fully equipped, comfortable, great location!

"We stayed for three nights and found the cottage to be clean, comfortable and well equipped. Everything we needed was there including cooking utensils, dishes, spices, etc. The patio is great - right at water level. A drive into town takes only about 10 minutes, so we found the location to be a nice balance between peace and quiet and convenience. There is no TV or internet, which some might find a negative but if we wanted all of that we would have just stayed home. The owner Lois was very nice and accommodating to our schedule as well. Recommended!"

Most of the lake areas are protected National Parks where bird watching, wildlife viewing and nature walks can be enjoyed. This is a great place for a family vacation where you can introduce your kids to nature and teach them to appreciate its beauty.

In the wintertime, the many forest trails are opened for cross country skiing and snowmobiling. Maps and route guides are available and essential if you plan to head out on your own. Alternatively, you can join up with one of the commercially guided snowmobile excursions.

The beautiful 18-hole Oak Harbor Golf Course on the Rainy River is a challenging par 72 championship course. The first nine holes were originally laid out in 1968 and offer scenic fairways nestled into the stunning natural surroundings. The newer last nine holes follow the Scottish link design with large water features and beautiful manicured greens. Any golf enthusiast should make a point of signing up for a round when visiting the area.

In the summertime, a fun family excursion is to go berry picking as you meander your way through the rural scenic roadways. Blueberries grow wild along the roadsides, usually in small pine forest clearings where the sunlight reaches through to the forest floor.
