  • A Fanastic Place on the St Lawrence River

"We had a wonderful stay at Twin Oaks. It is exactly as the photos are shown. We also did a lot of adventures away from our home as we like to learn about the area we are visiting. At Prescott we went to the Market on Sat. and did the shops, marina and the beach. We saw Fort Wellington and the Battle of the Windmill area which has a lovely picnic spot at the water's edge. We went to Upper Canada Village and stopped at the Iroquois locks to watch a ship go through. We went to Ottawa for Canada Day and Kingston on Wed for the Sunset ceremony at Fort Henry and the ghost tour there (when you go to Upper Canada Village you get fee tickets for Fort Henry.) After learning more about the building of the St Lawrence Seaway, we decided we should go to the Lost Villages Museum at Long Sault then we did a play at Upper Canada Playhouse at Morrisburg. We enjoyed each area we went to. Yes we did have time to also have fun on the river at Twin Oakes. Went swimming but nice we brought pool noodles as the bottom is rather squishy and we used the kayaks which was lots of fun. Great views of the ships going by and lots of small boats and birds to watch too. Thanks C & R! And the deep fried cheese curds with salsa at O'Heaphy's on King St in Prescott are so yummy!"

  • Early Thanksgiving in Land O' Lakes

"First impressions are lasting impressions Our first impression was that this is going to be a wonderful place to spend our time at, and indeed this was the lasting impression. Our time at Randomwood came to an end much too soon, and that is always the indication of a good holiday. Our stay was in early October, not typical cottage season, and it was like we had the lake to ourselves. When paddling on the lake we were the only boat on the water, we could walk the immediate roads without meeting any traffic. We were blessed with exceptional weather and the solitude and fall colours only enhanced the natural beauty of Randomwood’s location. Randomwood was the ideal venue for our family reunion. It was spacious and well equipped. There are also large and fascinating collections of literature, music and video which combined with the décor and good company make time spent indoors very enjoyable. All in all it was a memorable time."
