  • A relaxing week in a beautiful and comfortable setting!

"We have just returned from a fantastic week at Miller Lake on The Bruce Peninsula. The lake is about 3 miles long and provides enough space for some water excursions without ever getting too busy. The area has maintained an unspoilt and uncommercial feel to it so you really do feel like you can step back in time and relax in style! We spent our time messing around on the lake going on short excursions in the canoe. As we started to feel more adventurous we hired various water craft from Summer House including kayaks, water bikes and a motor boat. Trips to Tobermory for dinner (The Crowsnest Pub was a favourite) and a bit of wandering around was good fun. We also went lighthouse spotting and on a boat trip to Flowerpot Island which was excellent. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The setting was perfect and we had a fantastic week. Thanks for letting us borrow your cottage! We'll be back."

  • Valentine VaVoom!

"3rd visit and as always Tony is a delightful 'landlord'. This neighbourhood has so many gems in terms of coffee shops, restaurants and ambiance. The apartment is cosy, close to transportation and easy to the downtown core. (5 mintues by streetcar) or a nice wee walk. The owners are responsive and all round lovely hosts. Don't hesitate to book in for a great 'home away from home' village in the city experience."

  • Amazing cottage!!!

"We had an amazing family stay in this cottage. The view on the lake is incredible. The owner Nancy is very nice and helpful. There is one bedroom in the cottage and a private small cottage with two bedroom just a few steps behind. Very quiet and clean. We will be back for sure!!"

  • Great beach/lake for families

"We just returned from a week at this cottage on Lake Farlain. It was a low-key family vacation with our 2-year-old twins and their grandparents, though we did have a few additional family members stay a couple of nights at a time. For the most part, we all fit comfortably on the upper/main level of the cottage in the 3 spacious bedrooms, updated bathroom, living room and kitchen areas. However, the nights that we did have additional guests, we were required to use the fourth bedroom located on the lower level of the cottage. I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with the beach front and lake. It was much better than I had even anticipated. The lake is relatively small, though large enough for power boating, waterskiing, and jet skis. Very calm and shallow, sandy water leading to deep enough water to swim at the end of the dock. Our toddlers absolutely loved playing in the sand and wading in and out of the water without us having to be hypervigilant. The property the cottage is on is fairly large and private as well with no immediate neighbours to one side and several cottages fairly well spaced out to the opposite side. The cottage came equipped with many staples that could be needed, like cleaning supplies, toys and games, lots of towels, and most everything you would need for cooking in the kitchen. The cleaner had done an immaculate job prior to our arrival as well. I had no complaints about the main level of the cottage at all! However, the main problem we experienced was with the basement/4th bedroom area. It appeared fine, but smelled and felt damp right off the bat. However, when we did have a few extra bodies visiting at night, we quickly learned that there is a major earwig/bug problem in the basement that came out at night. They were everywhere... coming out of the ceiling tiles and lights above the bed and throughout the basement! Our guests actually moved up to the living area floor their first night and set up their tent outside on the second night because that was preferable to the "fourth bedroom". We are all well experienced with spending time up north and cottaging, and recognize there are always bugs to a certain extent, but this was well above and beyond anything we have ever experienced! I really feel this cottage should be advertised as only a 3-bedroom and priced accordingly for that reason! Other than that, we had a fantastic trip! I would replace steps from the deck to yard as they are steep and dangerous though."
