  • Truly an Island Gem!

"Our party of six recently returned to Northern Ontario after a one week stay at Fairfield House and we are already talking about returning again with a larger group! To say that our stay in this beautiful oceanfront century home was magical would be an understatement. In fact, I would easily attribute such glowing accolades at the risk of sounding over romantic, but with good reason. This home is spacious, bright, functional, beautifully appointed, private, updated, clean and happily situated on the scenic Augustine Cove. Although a historic house, it has new bathrooms and a very well stocked kitchen. There is also a spacious room with new laundry facilities and a walk-in ironing room. There are two living rooms with very comfortable sofas and chairs and a large sunroom that stretches across the front of the home facing the ocean. The outside deck is also large and well appointed with good quality adirondack chairs. There are added touches to the home such as two pairs of binoculars, tons of beach towels, books, tourist guides, magazines, jigsaw puzzles, games and a plethora of "Anne of Green Gables" material including a full set of the books. The bedrooms have amble closet space and the mattresses and linens are top quality. Although the home is furnished in a nice mix of antiques and modern furniture, you never get the feeling that the items are "hands off" and we felt right at home as soon as we walked in the door. The home is centrally located and easy to find. The drive to either Charlottetown or Summerside was easy and all the other attractions that PEI has to offer. As we are from Northern Ontario, driving any distance for dinner, groceries etc... is the norm, so we planned for supply pick-up in conjunction with our outings and did not find the private cove in any way isolated. Secluded and private yes, but not isolated with Charlottetown and Summerside less than one hour away. All our inquiries were handled in a very timely manner by Alan and Sue Manning and questions while we were at the house usually answered within the hour. The welcome package that was mailed prior to the visit was also very helpful in planning our trip to PEI and the gift of PEI jams and tea upon our arrival was a very nice touch. Do not hesitate to rent this historic home if you have a group from 6-10 as the ocean view, spaciousness, surroundings and appointments of this house cannot be overstated. Five star all the way"

"First of all, thank you soooo much to Heather ❤ and her hubby, this house has all what you need for a family of 4,all you see on the pictures and description from the listing are exactly the same, this house is just so well maintained and will recommend it to all my family and friends . You are central to mostly everything, during the day, driving to the beach or just sightseeing taking in all the beautiful scenery and at night a beautiful walk to the celebration zone for free concerts and fun for kids and parents, and can't miss out on a walk to COWS Ice cream 😍😍😍. This house is just IMPECABLE ,clean and functional, you just need to bring yourselves and enjoy the PEI atmosphere and people, and scenery. Once again, thank you Heather for the warm and loving hospitality and inputs on where to go and see and eat. Can't wait to see you again on our next visit in PEI."

  • Perfect Locations; Owners Provide Every Detail

"Owners Jeff and Miriam have thought of everything. Not only is this condo beautiful with a fantastic view, it is equipped with everything a visitor could possibly need. That includes all supplies and a completely operational internet connected workstation with printer and fax. The condo is laid out beautifully and appointed with superb style. The owners took the time to show us around the condo and explain how everything works. There is a binder in the living room full of attractions and restaurants. The location of the condo is perfect for two reasons. First, it is central to PEI for exploring the island in every direction. Secondly, the condo is right in the center of the best part of Charlottetown....it was so easy to walk to all the beautiful attractions and the best places to dine. Everything about staying at this condo was convenient. We hope to return to PEI again and hope we will find this condo available when we do."

  • Our family getaway

"We came to PEI to celebrate a significant anniversary and thought how perfect it would be to have our family with us - and finding the right place was the highest priority on our list! From the moment we walked through the doors and could see the ocean to discovering the star filled sky's at night we knew this was exactly what we needed! Our daughters and their families were with us as well as my mom, and we had ample room for everyone. Lots of space to hang out with the group or just escape to have a nap. Having the area around us allowed the kids to play freely with their only boundary the stairs leading down to the ocean. The weather man did not want to cooperate this summer however nothing deterred us from doing - we hunted for shells, had a Bon fire on the rocks ( collected drift wood and there is a full supply of freshly cut wood) to cooking all the fresh seafood we could eat. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, candles for the chandeliers, rubber boots for the rainy days and amazing sunrises!!! The cottage reminded us of Muskoka which is a place that is very dear to our hearts and was both quaint and spacious. Definitely would come back!!!!!"

South Shore (Charlotte's Shore) Travel Tips

Charlotte's Shore Vacation Rentals on Scenic Prince Edward Island

For a clean sea area and a mix of urban culture and scenic countryside, Prince Edward island is hard to beat. With small town centers, pretty ports, long beaches and cliffs for walking, and plenty of beautiful scenery, it is a great place to escape the rat race for a time. However, for those wanting to enjoy some activities, the area is ideal for golf, walking, beach combing and browsing small shops; there is even a winery to visit.

Things to Do from Charlotte's Shore Vacation Homes

A stroll along historic Great George Street at Charlotte's Shore is the best way to take in this lovely town. History comes to life before your eyes as the Founders Hall Confederation Players recreate their parts as costumed Fathers and Ladies of the Confederation around the town. Browse the shops on Queen Street and pick up a hand-made souvenir, or sit beneath the trees on Victoria Row and watch local life pass you by. It is a great place to unwind. It is also a fine place to eat out with a range of international cuisine provided by the town's restaurants, pubs and cafés. Festivals fill the local calendar and cover everything from music and theater to gaming and sport. Walk along the beaches or go clam digging with the locals. Take a boat trip to one of the nearby islands, enjoy bird spotting, or play a round of golf amidst some of Canada's best coastal scenery.

The Advantages of Booking Charlotte's Shore Cottages for Rent

Prince Edward Island conjures up pictures of walks along the beach, boat trips, biking along the quiet lanes, and steaming mugs of chocolate by the fireside. Renting a cottage in Charlotte's Shore gives visitors all the comforts of home and a well equipped base which is ideal for families, especially if the weather is showery. With plenty of bedroom space, TV sets, games and books, a vacation cottage offers a quiet and private retreat for evenings in. The fully equipped kitchens make mealtimes cheap and convenient, and food can be prepared to suit your own dietary requirement and tastes.

How to Get to Charlotte's Shore Vacation Rentals

Getting to Charlotte's Shore on Prince Edward Island is part of the vacation experience. Drive across Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick; at 13 kilometers long, it is one of the longest bridges in the world. Cross by car ferry using Northumberland ferries which take approximately 75 minutes or fly directly to Charlottetown from Halifax, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston or other major cities.

Places to Visit Around Charlotte's Shore Vacation Rentals

The Prince Edward Island National Park offers a great day out with its long beaches, warm waters and sand dunes which are home to many species of wildlife and birds. It is the home of "Anne of Green Gables." Downtown Charlottetown offers more cultural attractions, such as live theater performances, pavement cafés, gourmet dining, shopping and quiet parks.

Victoria is a charming Victorian Village where visitors can go sea kayaking, visit the lighthouse, and browse the artists' studios. The Saturday Farmers' Market has some great fresh produce, along with the popular Chocolate Factory!

The Best Time to Visit Charlotte's Shore Vacation Rentals

Prince Edward Island has something to offer visitors from spring through fall. The climate is surprisingly mild, due to the proximity to the warm Gulf of St. Lawrence bay waters. Summers have low humidity and sunny days can reach 90 F (32 C) in August. The cold winters rarely see temperatures rise above freezing with snow on the ground from November to April and some severe storms.
