  • We didn't want to leave!!!!

"My husband and I booked Le Franchar in September 2014 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We travel often, and have stayed in many vacation rental properties in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and we can happily report that our week's stay at this lovely house was easily one of the best vacations of our lives. Property owners Lyse and Gus are a genuine delight, striking the perfect balance between gracious warmth, helpfulness, and respect for their guests' privacy. The home is beautifully decorated, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The views are exquisite. We had originally intended to spend most of our time in nearby Quebec City, but simply fell in love with Le Franchar and the island, and spent the great majority of our time exploring, hiking, and simply relaxing in this charming environment. We will definitely be back!"

  • Wish we stayed longer!

"If this was a ten star rating, we would give it a ten! The pictures are true to show the clean, upscale decorating, but what are not shown are the two biggest bonuses: a roof top terrace with a 360 view of Old City Quebec, and a waterfront view of the marina/port! Included in the rental are all linens, well-stocked kitchen (including coffee) to prepare meals, wifi and free parking pass. Walking distance to basically everywhere you need to go within Quebec: Lower and Upper City, food market, bike rental, bus stop, and the historic sites. We didn't need our car until we sadly had to leave. 3 Queen beds were very comfortable and the condo was very quiet for sleeping. Just want to point out that there are no private bedrooms, but the beds are spaced out nicely so my family did not feel like we were all sleeping next to each other. We are extremely pleased with our stay and we definitely are recommending this condo! The owner and staff were also very pleasant and accomodating! And thank you all for making our stay special and memorable!"

  • Perfect Pied-à-terre

"My husband and I love to visit Quebec City and have stayed in a variety of accommodations over the years. When we come for more than a night or two we prefer to have more space than a hotel room offers and also kitchen facilities. Apartment 204 in this condo building was perfect for our most recent 4-night stay during February. We found it to be as good or better than presented on-line, with everything in good working order. The renovation of this magnificent old building on rue Saint-Jean in the Upper Town of Vieux Quebec is sympathetic, keeping architectural details like the tall, arched windows while incorporating every modern comfort. The high ceilings and the split level design provide both a feeling of space and grandeur downstairs and coziness (in the bedroom) upstairs. Weather was quite cold during our stay, but it was easy to regulate the thermostats to our chosen temperatures. We enjoyed many of the amenities, from the music channels on the cable TV, the iPod dock, the deep soaking bathtub, the well-equipped kitchen, to the excellent bedding and furniture. This particular apartment includes a parking space in a heated garage about a 5-minute walk from the building--a rarity in Quebec. The building is very secure, with multiple coded and keyed entry points. The location is so central that we never moved our car until it was time to pack up again. Booking, reception and check-out were all handled smoothly, professionally and with amity. For a single or couple seeking a lovely, central business or leisure nest in Quebec City, without need for hotel services, I highly recommend this rental unit. My only caveat is to bring a sleep mask if you prefer total darkness at nigh. Although the bedroom has curtains for privacy and dims nicely, the upper loft remains open to the other windows and there is no way to block out street lights from the upper arches."

  • Great !!!

"This is perhaps the best place to stay in Old Quebec, especially if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for accommodations. It's perfectly located, down the hill to the market, up the hill to the shops , restaurants, Hotel Frontenac, street entertainment. Basically a great home base while you are there. The condo itself is very nice, intimate and well appointed. Everything you need is there if you want to just cook your own meals. It's 5 foot entrance door was a source of many smiles by passers by as we ducked in and out of our little hideaway. All in all we highly recommend this place if you are travelling to Quebec City.
