  • A comfortable apartment

"We stayed at this apartment in October and found it to be very clean and comfortable. It was spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. We did have trouble with the internet connection but the owners were helpful with sorting it out. They were extremely nice people who offered a lot of advice in getting around and advising on the local restaurants and places to visit. Location was extremely close to the metro, which made getting around a breeze."

  • Very Clean, Safe, and Comfortable

"This is a basic, clean, comfortable apartment convenient to the metro. We stayed here 4 nights and cooked in the well-equipped kitchen two nights. We were a little wary of the neighborhood at first but actually found it to be quite safe to the point that one of our party (a woman) felt comfortable walking home from the metro at night alone! Yes, you do see women walking around at night alone in this neighborhood quite a lot! Owner is very nice, lives nearby and was very responsive to all our needs. Loved the nice deck out back. Negatives: Sofa in living room was not terribly comfortable. Also smoke alarm in kitchen will go off if you have any little bit of kitchen cooking smoke at all. Use kitchen exhaust fan at all times! All in all it was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay there again."

  • Great home, perfect location

"Great place, incredibly well stocked (we lacked for nothing), truly in the "heart of the Plateau". Walking distance to everything, market right below (buy your wine and beer there... cheap), Metro a few blocks away, Bixi bike share stations everywhere, close to some of the best parks in Montreal, and sandwiched between some of the City's best streets (St. Laurent and St. Denis). Spent a few days there with my wife and our two young kids and we all loved it. No car, walked everywhere. Great place for families (though be mindful of the steep front steps if you have kids that are still wobbly). Very hard to leave. Felt very much like a home. We will definitely be back!"

  • Roomy 2-Level Condo in Heart of Old Quebec

"We had a pleasant stay in this condo in mid October. The condo's best features are LOCATION (heart of Old Quebec near Rue Ste.-Jean), SPACE (eat-in-kitchen, two bedrooms plus living room with sleeper sofa), and LAUNDRY facilities. Also, we must mention the friendly OWNERS as a plus. The condo was never too hot nor too cold during our stay. Public parking is a short walk away. The hot tub functioned while we were there and we used it, but it was more on the very warm side rather than hot (96 degrees.) The kitchen has all the dishes, utensils, and tools that you will need during your stay. The negatives of the condo are the uneven floors and stairs. Yes, they are to be expected in an old building, but the stairs are very slanted to one side and the floor between the living room and kitchen has a step of about 1 1/2 to 2 inches so take your balance and mobility into consideration when deciding whether to rent the condo. We ourselves tripped on the step several times and my son fell part way down the stairs but was OK. Parking was listed as an amenity so I had thought it was included. It turns out that public parking is a short distance away, but no parking was included with the rental. It ended up being difficult to find someone to help us buy a parking pass so we had the additional expense of daily parking. There is a also a lot of dust from the mortar between the stone walls. I know that the apartment was dusted before we arrived, but by the time we left 3 days later there was significant dust. Another negative is that the massive bookcase on the left of the fireplace is secured by a single screw that is coming out. Because the bookcase is so heavy and tall but not deep, I was constantly worried that my youngest would try to climb it and it would fall on him. I mentioned the issue to one of the owners and she said that they might secure the bookcase. Another much more minor issue (for us) was the presence of many almonds on the floor in the living room which told me that that room had not been given a proper cleaning before our arrival. We are not allergic so it wasn't a big concern, but when you pay an $80 cleaning fee, I think it's reasonable to expect that the last renters also paid the fee and so the apt should be free of snacks on the floor. I mentioned the nuts to the owner after our departure. The cupboards had salt, pepper, tea and sugar. Bring your own shampoo."
