  • La Maison Rouge

"Just finished a great week at this fabulous home. While the pictures on this site are great, the actual home surpasses the pictures. A group of nine all enjoyed the week including using the fireplace all week, the outdoor spa, the pool table downstairs, etc. The home is furnished with everything we needed for a great stay. We normally eat out a few nights a week on these trips but we preferred to eat in at this place given its charm and amenities. The south side of Tremblant is a 10 minute drive and grocery stores are 7-10 minutes away depending on the one light between you and town. We would recommend this home to anyone looking for a tranquil retreat, both in summer to use the lake and winter for the skiing, tubing, etc."

  • Roomy 2-Level Condo in Heart of Old Quebec

"We had a pleasant stay in this condo in mid October. The condo's best features are LOCATION (heart of Old Quebec near Rue Ste.-Jean), SPACE (eat-in-kitchen, two bedrooms plus living room with sleeper sofa), and LAUNDRY facilities. Also, we must mention the friendly OWNERS as a plus. The condo was never too hot nor too cold during our stay. Public parking is a short walk away. The hot tub functioned while we were there and we used it, but it was more on the very warm side rather than hot (96 degrees.) The kitchen has all the dishes, utensils, and tools that you will need during your stay. The negatives of the condo are the uneven floors and stairs. Yes, they are to be expected in an old building, but the stairs are very slanted to one side and the floor between the living room and kitchen has a step of about 1 1/2 to 2 inches so take your balance and mobility into consideration when deciding whether to rent the condo. We ourselves tripped on the step several times and my son fell part way down the stairs but was OK. Parking was listed as an amenity so I had thought it was included. It turns out that public parking is a short distance away, but no parking was included with the rental. It ended up being difficult to find someone to help us buy a parking pass so we had the additional expense of daily parking. There is a also a lot of dust from the mortar between the stone walls. I know that the apartment was dusted before we arrived, but by the time we left 3 days later there was significant dust. Another negative is that the massive bookcase on the left of the fireplace is secured by a single screw that is coming out. Because the bookcase is so heavy and tall but not deep, I was constantly worried that my youngest would try to climb it and it would fall on him. I mentioned the issue to one of the owners and she said that they might secure the bookcase. Another much more minor issue (for us) was the presence of many almonds on the floor in the living room which told me that that room had not been given a proper cleaning before our arrival. We are not allergic so it wasn't a big concern, but when you pay an $80 cleaning fee, I think it's reasonable to expect that the last renters also paid the fee and so the apt should be free of snacks on the floor. I mentioned the nuts to the owner after our departure. The cupboards had salt, pepper, tea and sugar. Bring your own shampoo."

  • Fantastic, well-appointed, exceeded expectations

"The VRBO site very accurately portrayed the condo, and its amenities. The process to secure/confirm the condo for our four-day stay was thorough and reassuring. Aside from the extremely pleasant attributes of the condo, the location for short-term tourists - us - was totally excellent. The unit was very clean. Given an opportunity to return to Quebec City, we would not hesitate to try to obtain the same condo again. We'd even consider changing dates if we had to!"

  • Excellent Location

"Had a group of 7 guys from the States up to Montreal for a 3-day trip. The apartment was as advertised. It was very clean, although we didn't plan on using the kitchen, a large refrigerator was nice to have. We purchased the optional parking spot too which was peace of mind. The location was fantastic – we could walk everywhere – Old Montreal, St-Laurent, Crescent, etc. so we saved a lot on cab fare. Wi-fi was also extremely helpful to have since most couldn't incur roaming charges, and the building was very quiet, with solid walls to hold in the sound. On a separate note, it couldn't have been more of a pleasure renting from the owner. We met her a few times over the weekend. Once by accident and the second time in response to an issue with our Wi-fi, which was resolved almost immediately. She also left a book of restaurants to try which they created themselves. We tried their first recommendation for brunch at L’Avenue which was one of the best brunches I’ve had in recent memory. Lastly, it was a HUGE bonus to not worry about towels, linens, shampoo and soap. There were at least 2 towels available per person and everything including the pillows and pillow cases were very clean upon arrival."
