"We recently spent 9-nights of our honeymoon staying at the delightful Bamboo Cottage. The cottage itself has been designed and decorated with the noticeable care and attention of a justifiably proud owner. The grounds in which the cottage is situated are beautifully maintained, with the impressive garden attracting a whole host of the local bird life. Indeed, it is difficult to think of many better ways to start a day than by enjoying the early morning sun on the front porch of Bamboo Cottage, before taking a dip in the immaculate pool. Last, but by no means least, the owner, Joanne, is a wonderful hostess with a wealth of knowledge about the island, its amenities and various attractions. During our stay, Joanne went out of her of way to inform and assist - seemingly nothing is too much trouble and Joanne has a wonderful knack of making you feel so very well cared for, whilst also allowing guests to enjoy the privacy and tranquility of the cottage. We left the island very much hoping to return one day soon to once again enjoy Bamboo Cottage and the superb hospitality of Joanne. Dave & Alexan"Guest: David H. "We stayed at Sapodilla Cottage over the week of 4th of July. This is a very slow time on the island with lots of businesses closed following the winter/spring season but we loved the relaxed pace and lack of crowds. We were originally booked in the Birds and Bees cottage but due to a scheduling mix up, ended up in Sapodilla (Janie was very gracious about reducing the cost due to the changed). The cottage itself is packed with charm. At first we were unsure about the smaller kitchen and overall living area of Sapodilla but found that it worked quite well for 2 people and was much more private than the other cottage. A few things could be improved in the kitchen (sharper knives and scissors would be my main suggestion) but otherwise, we found everything we needed to cook breakfast and dinner each day. We loved the open-air nature of the cottage, especially the outdoor shower and hammock on the verandah. While it was the height of summer, the ceiling fan and island breezes made it comfortable to sleep at night. We also enjoyed the company of Janie's dogs who would come to visit us in the morning and evenings as well as the company of loads of birds and geckos on the porch. We visited Half Moon, Rendezvous, Pigeon and Darkwood Beaches -- each had its own distinct personality and all were wonderful (note: you really need a 4WD vehicle to get to Rendezvous; it's an adventure. And when you go to Darkwood get lunch from Mrs. George's stand). Janie was extremely helpful both before and during our visit. She recommended Titi Rent a Car and we had a great experience with them. Titi himself picked us up from and returned us to the airport so that we wouldn't have to struggle with directions. All in all, our week at Sapodilla Cottage could be summed up as peaceful. If I return to Antigua, Janie will be the first person I call!"Guest: SusanHope Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 8, 2014View listing
"Really enjoyed our stay at your home in Jolly Harbour. Upon our arrival we noted that it was clean and tidy. The home had all the necessities that we required. Wonderful view of the hills and the marina from the master bedroom. The Housekeeper was very pleasant and checked in on us to see if we needed anything. Great place to stay, will definately be staying here again on our next trip to Antigua. Would recommend a rental car or golf cart rental."Guest: James J. "My husband, 2 teenage daughters, and I recently spent a week in the beautiful Bamboo House. The home was clean and accurately depicted on the web. Joanne had graciously stocked our fridge with fresh fruits, vegetables, and a delicious rum punch. She also offered to get some groceries for us for Monday morning as the stores are closed on Sunday (the day of our arrival). This home was perfect for a family of four. My daughters shared a bedroom with their own bathroom and we each had our own privacy. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all an open concept, so preparing meals was quite fun. We usually had dinner on the large porch. My daughters enjoyed reading in the relaxing hammock too. We used the pool each day while taking in the amazing landscaping. My daughters enjoyed feeding Joanne's tortoises, zip lining, horseback riding, and of course we all loved the pristine beaches. We visited Rendezvous Beach, Pineapple Bay, and Half Moon Bay. We were the only ones on the beach at Rendezvous. Pineapple Bay was a bit more touristy, but beautiful. Half Moon Bay had interesting natural beauty. I took some great photos of my family on the rocks with the waves splashing over them. Definitely listen to Joanne for restaurant recommendations...one of our favorite meals was at the Asian restaurant in Falmouth. The food, service, and view were amazing! Thank you Joanne for a being so kind and accommodating to our family."Guest: Tim and Lisa Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: August 8, 2014View listing
