  • Peaceful

"A much needed vacation took me and my family to Antigua to escape the winter. We found the Sugar Shack to be a wonderful place the kitchen was well equipped, I loved the windows that opened up to the breezeway between the two bedroom buildings! It is exactly what you would expect of an island vacation! Thank you to the wonderful host!!"

  • Another great stay at Point of View!

"We are recently back from our second two week stay at Point of View. We first stayed at the property in 2012 and had been dreaming of a return trip ever since our plane left Antiguan soil on that trip. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage daughters and are now very comfortable getting around the island. As with our first trip we couldn't have been happier with our stay. Katherine was (again) extremely helpful and always full of great information on the island. With our trip coinciding with Antigua Carnival there was a much larger number of tourists and activities available on the island during this trip (which was very nice). Beyond seeing the island many of our favorite days were spent sitting around Point of View and enjoying the villa. Some tips: -Be prepared to get a local drivers license (~$20usd) and a 4wd vehicle. You will quickly get used to driving on the left hand side of the road (if you don't already). A 4wd vehicle is extremely helpful on the island in general and especially to get up the mountain to Point of View. A good map or GPS makes your trip much less stressful. -If you travel to Antigua in the off-season (like we do) plan on arriving with an idea of the restaurants and other sites/activities you want to hit and make sure you call ahead to check to see if they are open. Many have off-season schedules. We did this and had a great experience. We actually liked many of their FB pages in the weeks leading up to our trip so we knew what events were going on and what specials the restaurants had. Some of our favorites: Touloulou's, Trappas, OJs, Copper and Lumber (Friday night seafood), and the always popular Sunday party at Shirley Heights. -Don't "overplan" in Antigua and be prepared to live on "island time" for awhile. Everything happens at a different pace there so go with it and make up some (or most) of your schedule as you go. You'll enjoy it more this way :) -Get out on the water. We love the beaches and have been to a bunch of them (Favorites: Rendezvous Bay, Halfmoon Bay, Valley Church, and Jolly Beach). We also loved taking a Catamaran out to Barbuda (BEAUTIFUL beaches and great trip). This year we chartered a sailboat for a day (the Jabberwocky through http://www.adventurecaribbean.com/) and HIGHLY recommend it. We can't recommend Point of View enough and we're already scouring our calendar for open dates for our next trip."

  • Amazing Villa

"My teenage children and myself just arrived home from Antigua. The Villa was filled with charm, wonderful amenities, an amazing view and a great beach. We spent some days on the beach at St. James Club and travelled to others on the Island, they were all beautiful. I highly recommend this Villa as you will feel like you are at home but in paradise."

  • Fabulous Family Vacation

"My husband, 2 teenage daughters, and I recently spent a week in the beautiful Bamboo House. The home was clean and accurately depicted on the web. Joanne had graciously stocked our fridge with fresh fruits, vegetables, and a delicious rum punch. She also offered to get some groceries for us for Monday morning as the stores are closed on Sunday (the day of our arrival). This home was perfect for a family of four. My daughters shared a bedroom with their own bathroom and we each had our own privacy. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all an open concept, so preparing meals was quite fun. We usually had dinner on the large porch. My daughters enjoyed reading in the relaxing hammock too. We used the pool each day while taking in the amazing landscaping. My daughters enjoyed feeding Joanne's tortoises, zip lining, horseback riding, and of course we all loved the pristine beaches. We visited Rendezvous Beach, Pineapple Bay, and Half Moon Bay. We were the only ones on the beach at Rendezvous. Pineapple Bay was a bit more touristy, but beautiful. Half Moon Bay had interesting natural beauty. I took some great photos of my family on the rocks with the waves splashing over them. Definitely listen to Joanne for restaurant recommendations...one of our favorite meals was at the Asian restaurant in Falmouth. The food, service, and view were amazing! Thank you Joanne for a being so kind and accommodating to our family."
