"We stayed for a brief four nights and loved it. Relaxing, peaceful, beautiful, incredible view, nearly constant breeze, clean, comfortable beds. Rent a golf cart and roam the island! Karl was a wonderful Captain and host. Sean was terrific getting us to and from ferry dock and generally being an excellent host. We thought about St. Thomas or St. John's but with Honeymoon Beach, Heidi's, and Dinghy's...we never left the island. Already plotting a longer return visit!"Guest: Jim A. "My husband and I loved our time at Whispering Palms Cottage. We felt like genuine St. Thomians with our own home on the mountain and a truly fabulous view. The wonderful thing about staying at the Cottage on the hills of the North Side is that you are on your own, but you have competent and trustworthy support and guidance nearby from the cottage owners Joanne and Ken. Staying at the Cottage felt safe, private and relaxing and we enjoyed having the comforts of home such as a comfortable and clean bed, fresh linens, clean bathroom and a well appointed clean kitchen. We felt the furnishings were of nice quality and the seating provided and lighting were very nicely placed both indoors and out. Because we rented a Jeep from Discount Car Rental we had the freedom to come and go as we pleased and experience what it was like to actually live and drive on island. We drove all over exploring the island to see what there was to see, such as glorious ocean vistas, residences both extravagant and simple and along the way stopped to visit all the must-see tourist destinations and beaches. We grocery shopped, cooked and had a great home base to head out on our daily adventures from. Top tips for a good time: When Joanne makes a recommendation such as the eating at Sibs on The Mountain, she's speaking with years of experience, so take her good advice. We suggest you definitely pack, and carry with you at all times, sunscreen and bug spray, stay hydrated and remember to always be polite to strangers. Remember to always drive on the left (even when you’re pulling into a parking lot) and adopt the courteous local habit of pausing to letting people into traffic. When you take the car ferry to/from St. John (which is an absolute must do because it’s so great over there) inquire about the schedule for the day, and don’t assume you can catch the last ferry of the day in the last 15 minutes prior to departure to head back to St. Thomas because you might not get a spot and you will be stranded on St. John for the night and miss out on sleeping in your own bed (at the Cottage). Also you don’t have to use the same ferry company over and back, but you will spend more for 2 one way tickets rather than 1 round trip. Overall, relax and have fun on your vacation, you earned it!"Guest: islander wanna be Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: November 17, 2014View listing
"My husband and I stayed for 10 wonderful days. Ilka & Ramon was very helpful and trustworthy. The Villa is exactly what you see in the pictures. The Villa was clean & well maintained with full kitchen, dinning room and with everything you need. The beds are very comfortable & rooms with A/C. The place was very quite , we felt secure and safe with security 24/7. The location is great! Near a shopping center, CVS, Walgreen, Super Max grocery store, also few fast food restaurants. Near the Embassy Suites, sad that they closed there casino, we were able to enjoy there last day. We made the commitment to walk the beach each morning with the sunrise (7:00am) it's was priceless!!!! We took the most beautiful pictures even with rainbow. The beach is beautiful, clear & with calm warm waters. We had the key's to the private beach & to the pool. We did lots of travelling, took the ferry from Catano to San Juan, visited the El Morro, Also we did the Bacardi Tour. Recommended to eat breakfast at El Meson en Bayamon. Good spanish food at Guavate/Cayey, but the best is "La Vaca Brava in the Old San Juan!!! Thank you Ilka & Ramon for letting us stay in your beautiful villa! Will love stay at you're place on our next vacation!!"Guest: IVY C. Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 20, 2014View listing
