  • The perfect getaway

"My fiancé and I absolutely adored Villa H. The stunning location and views, the privacy, the luxury of your own private sundeck at the water's edge - simply heavenly. If you are looking relax and get away from it all, we can hardly think of a better location. We hardly ventured out save to get provisions! The villa itself is comprehensively appointed, with absolutely masses of internal and external space. Christiane is an extremely helpful host and it is clear she takes great pride in keeping the property immaculate. How we would love to be back there now!"

  • Lovely Cottage and Wonderful Hospitality

"The Sugar Shack was everything we hoped it would be and more! The decor is lovely with some nice Caribbean touches and the garden, breezeway and deck were very relaxing. The cottage is spotless and the hospitality of Ilse and Bill Cooper went above and beyond expectations. We cooked a number of dinners at home and found the kitchen to have everything we needed and the BBQ to be easy to use. My husband, sister and I spent an idyllic 12 days a the Sugar Shack and can recommend it without reservation. We rented a car and visited a number of beaches - though Dickenson Bay is only a 5 minute walk away and is spectacular for swimming. We recommend shopping for food at Epicurean, which is not too far from the cottage, though you will need a car. For an easy dinner or lunch we suggest purchasing the take-out dishes at Epicurean, which are very tasty and will give you a sens of the local fare. Take your cup of coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the late afternoon up to the sunset deck at the top of the garden for a relaxing panoramic view of the horizon. As for restaurants, we enjoyed meals at Anna's, which is within walking distance of the Sugar Shack, and C &C Wine Bar in St. John's. We took a day-long circumnavigation tour on a catamaran with "Wadadli Cats" and loved every minute of it: we sailed around the island, stopping half-way at a beach for a chance to snorkel and a hot lunch. My husband and sister enjoyed a game of golf at the public golf course - golf club rentals were just fine. Nelson's Dockyards is a destination worthy of the journey across the island. Ilse and Bill were very generous with their time and advice on local attractions and history. We would go back in a heartbeat."

  • One Happy Family

"The pictures are tremendous, but don’t give the place justice, as they can’t capture the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks below, or the healthy wind that blows refreshingly and constantly. A great way to capture the magnitude of the view; we could see the villa clearly while swimming with stingrays at a sandbar the might easily be 10-15 kms away. The beach is truly only a 2 minute walk down a very well maintained path. Long Bay is very nice and while a little busy when the cruise ships are in, is virtually all yours in the morning and by 5:00 p.m. Snorkeling off the beach won’t blow the experienced away, but was still solid fun for the family. Had drinks on Marina’s restaurant deck most days and she and her staff were very nice. Marina was also very responsive and available for arriving/departing and any other questions we might have had through the week. The villa itself was very well stocked. We did a lot of cooking and found any tool necessary. The BBQ was solid as well, with a nice Kenmore 4-burner that reached nice high heats allowing for some quality grilling. Lots of deck furniture, including two large tables. Beds were comfortable in the main house. We didn’t rent the cottage, but had a look inside and it’s a nice option for larger groups with kids. As others have stated, the gardens are expansive and very nice. Dwight the gardener is a great guy. You really should rent a car. Loved Antigua, the people are awesome. You should see the island and the guest book is filled with great recommendations. Every one we followed was on the money. Half Moon and Smiling Harry’s was a classic example of a little risk with tremendous reward. Lisa was a joy to deal with throughout the entire process. We had an absolutely fantastic vacation."

  • You get the whole package here

"Because the owners go out of their way to make your vacation the best possible. We were staying with our 1.5 yr old grandson and he got an upper respiratory infection. We called Lou and she came and got my daughter and her son, drove them to a doctor and then drove them around to get a prescription. She really was the absolute best to take her time to help us out. The layout is the best for larger groups. Love all the outdoor living areas. This is a great vacation rental and in addition you'll get personal help with things that come up on a trip!"
