"We have been to many islands in the Caribbean and South Pacific, but for us, never have I felt so at home as on Great Guana Cay. From the moment we climbed on the ferry from Marsh Harbor, we met friendly return visitors from all over the US, and the first thing they asked was where we were staying. Unanimously, they declared Dolphin Lookout was the best place on the island. Locals agree! That was a great start to a 2 week vacation for my husband's 50th birthday. And they weren't wrong!
This place is unbelievable! The views, the design and details, all amazing and the caretakers Gina and Roland do a great job in keeping things in tip top shape. Every thing you need is there. Once I got past the views outdoors, I found the inside of Dolphin Lookout incredible as well. It is hard to believe that there is still such a place tucked away almost 15 minutes along rough trails, that opens up to such beautiful vistas. Privacy galore. Little hidden trails leading to more beautiful vistas along the way.
We snorkeled, kayaked, swam, read lots of books, showered outside exclusively, hiked, went deep sea fishing, caught and cooked blacking tuna; we saw eagle rays, loggerhead turtles, nurse sharks, barracudas, an ocean sunfish, parrotfish and lots of tropical fish swimming among the beautiful coral right off shore at Caysera Beach and from the dock on the property.
We had 22 family members that flew in from as far as California for the party we hosted at Nippers. Barefoot Man played that night and there were fireworks right off the raised deck we reserved. It was awesome! We enjoyed Sunsetters very much and music at Grabbers on Sunday is awesome!
The families stayed all over the island in pretty impressive places - none with the character and beauty of Dolphin Lookout.
Things I learned - buy your alcohol in Marsh Harbor and ferry it back to Great Guana. Big savings.
Tie up your grocery bags, and secure your belongings when making your way back to the property.
Don't worry about losing power, storms knock out power from time to time and we had to use the generator once. The caretakers were awesome and brought out gas and checked up on it until the power was back on.
Obviously, we will be back. We are already looking at the calendar. Ben has been so easy to deal with so I just have nothing but great things to say about this place!"
