  • Well worth the trip to Andros!

"Our family had an excellent time in one of Trevor's beach cottages. We spent 7 days on Andros and were well looked after by Trevor, Princess and Mario. The kitchen and laundry were great and we were happy with our beach front cottage, merely steps from the beautiful water. Cell phone and TV worked great! Snorkeling from the cottage was fine, not coral, but we did see fish, especially at low tide. Things close on Sunday's so make sure you have food and water. The National Park is a short drive from here and you can access two in-land Blue Holes with walkways. Make sure to stop by the Park headquarter at Fresh Creek during the week, the people who work there are wonderful and can point you in the right direction for birding as well. Rainbow Blue Hole is up the road a little way from the cottage by bike or car. It's a short walk in but make sure to wear good walking shoes as the coral path is rough and there is a lot of poison wood around. The Blue Hole is beautiful and worth a swim. If you have a car visit North Andros for the cliff, caves and most importantly, the ocean blue hole at the end of Conch Sound Road in Nicholls Town. We only found out about this after talking to a local restaurant owner. You drive to the end of the road, turn left along the water and park at the end. You walk from the shore about 20 feet at low tide. You can see the blue hole from the beach. Snorkeling around the hole was awesome, the current coming out of the hole is strong, you can see great fish! Try and go at low tide, a must visit spot. Just up from the cottage is the Taste and See Restaurant owned by Cinderella, who is a great cook. Call ahead as the schedule varies. This is a great spot. Snorkel trips by boat from Small Hope Bay Resort just south of Davies Creek. The prices as reasonably for a 2 hour trip. We heard that the lunch is good and worth the $18 per person, though we did not go. The neighbors by the cottages are really great. The neighborhood dogs are sweet and part of the rustic charm. Our son lined-fished from the Fresh Creek dock and caught us dinner one night. We talked to everyone around town, people are really nice and we got the best information that way. Conch salad from the yellow shack near the traffic circle in FC was great, so if they are open, stop by. I found out about it from someone living on a sailboat who works at the US Navy Base. We took the Ferry from Nassau, it was a great trip in and I would recommend it. I did take Dramamine."

  • Must do nature tour!

"On May 18 ,my wife and I and our two grandchildren of 11 and 14 went with Ed on a nature tour to see the blue holes. This is a great experience for adults and kids alike. Ed is very knowledgeable about the plants and animals that you will see. This tour is worth the experience even if you are not normally interested in plants and animals. The scenery and the blue holes are spectacular with a lot of fun wildlife along the way. On our first day, Ed told us about a bat cave but weather did not allow us to see it. The kids wanted to see the bats so much that Ed was willing to take us back the next day. I was quite surprised at all the different things that I didn't noticed the first time through. At the end of the tour, Ed had some fresh coconuts that he cut open and shared coconut juice and coconut meat with us. He also had some fruit that he picked in his yard that morning. This was a really great finish to a very enjoyable tour. Ed gave us a short tour of the local communities with a little bit of history. I would highly recommend Ed as your guide for this cultural and nature tour."

  • Reconnect with family by disconnecting from tech

"Our family of four spent Spring Break here based on the photos and reviews on the HomeAway website. Diane is a gracious hostess who seems to know everyone on the island. She went out her way to set up a charter flight to and from Nassau, a taxi from Andros airport, scheduled a lady to plait my daughters hair, as well as suggested accommodations in Nassau prior to our arrival. The property, Knoll's Landing, is a secluded beachfront paradise on an otherwise relatively undeveloped island. If you want nightlife and a cruise ship atmosphere, stay in Nassau At Knolls landing, nature provides ample entertainment for those who want an authentic island experience. Our beach house slept my wife and two kids comfortably with wind and waves to lull us to sleep each night. There is no cell service and the internet access was intermittent, but this was actually a positive since my wife could not check work email and our teenage daughter could not text friends all vacation. We found our daughter to be a very likable child when her nose is not buried in an iPhone and, surprisingly, the feeling was mutual. My son and I came for the bonefish. We scheduled 2 days on the water and Rodney is an exceptional guide and all around great guy, but the weather did not cooperate so no fish were hooked. Such are the vicissitudes of fishing, especially early season. Snorkeling, swimming and spearfishing for lobster are available directly off the beach, but for more diverse seascapes, Diane can schedule a snorkeling day trip to a nearby island which is about 20 minutes offshore. Our snorkeling guide, Yellow, was one of the kindest most soft spoken men I have ever met. He was very attentive to my 12 year old as he navigated to reefs, and he had an eagle eye for spotting lobsters for my son to spear. Writing this review makes me eager to return if the opportunity should present itself, and my son and I would readily hire Rodney for another shot at bonefish or even tarpon in the summer months. We would have no reservations about recommending this property to likeminded couples or families."

  • Islanders at heart

"I almost hate to share any wonderful imfo about this amazing house/island and our great owners....it would be a sweet secret to keep but also something so nice it needs to be shared. This was our second visit to pleasant dreams and this time we brought our adult kids. Of course the house is just perfect. We used the all the "toys" and cooked amazing meals in their fully equipped kitchen. If you love rainbows in the morning and lightning shows off in the distance at nite you will love this place. Steve and Lin are so easy to deal with and we will be back. The snorkeling every day and the "floats" in your own private cove are hard to get out of your mind. We ate lobster, conch, and fish thru the whole visit. I do suggest visiting Diane/Rodney. Our guys went out with Rodney and came back with a cooler full. And Diane is a sweet interesting lady who is so helpful . We even went over to her place and had dinner. You will want to rent a car for at least part of your visit. It s very helpful in getting to grocery store and of course sightseeing. Not an island for those seeking crazy nitelife . More of a quiet turn off your phone and forget the world kind of place. Just what i think everyone could use. We def made some unforgettable memories."
