"We had three couples stay at Bluemoon for five nights. The open floor plan of the main living area was spacious and comfortable. There are plenty of bedrooms that could easily accommodate large groups. With all of the windows, there was never a need for air conditioning as being on the water gives you great ocean breezes. The kitchen is well appointed and the only appliance it is missing is a microwave, but we never noticed until right before we left. There is a new bathroom which is quite nice and spacious. There was always plenty of hot water for all six of us. You do need to supply toilet paper.....not a big deal as it's available at the convenience store down the road. It was clean and is definitely someplace I would stay with my children.
As for location, the cove that it's in is BEAUTIFUL! We had a blast snorkeling and kayaking. My brother was able to kayak out to a pod of dolphins. We also caught crabs along the rocks. Rays visited in the morning. Had a Bon fire at night. There is a big beach just down the shoreline that's great for sunbathing and beach combing.
There are also so many amazing beaches within a short drive. I suggest driving south. Some of the beaches were the most beautiful I have ever seen. Just south on the main highway is the Island Farm. The produce is outstanding along with the bread twice a week. Get in line early! Great fruits, beautiful greens for salads and incredibly beautiful mint for mojitos! Take a drive to Tarpom Bay. Buy some lobster from the fishermen at 3:00. Get some conch salad from Billy and he will prep your lobster for the grill. Best meal we had!
The negatives......and they are minor! Yes, there are bugs. Welcome to a tropical island. Sugar ants appeared every morning. Don't leave anything out and just wipe them up. No big deal. Noseeums are nasty little buggars that are out at dusk and dawn so use bug spray. There are little things about the house that go hand in hand with ocean property and maintenance. There is no Home Depot down the road and the salt air is hard on Everything! To be expected, but nothing impeded our vacation. It is not a fancy marble estate, but it is clean, comfortable and in an amazing location. Howard, the owner was easy to work with and had plenty of information for us and the caretaker Arthur was helpful as well. The Internet did go out for a few days......island wide.
I don't usually visit the same place twice, but I am definitely returning with my kids and grandkids!"

"Moments after we met the owner of this outstanding property at the airport in North Eleuthera (minutes from the home) he introduced himself as "Uncle Tom". Anyone who knows anything about the 'family islands' knows that personalities abound, and Uncle Tom is one unforgettable gentlemen. Warm, friendly and overly accommodating are just a few of the countless adjectives one could bestow upon him. Sure, I could wax poetic for hours about the home's great open floorplan allowing memorable family meals overlooking the bay replete with turtles, rays and sunrises that would make Homer Winslow blush, or I could tell you about the well-suited and appointed boat that is available for use that allows for great flats fishing or a easy 10minute jaunt to Briland, or I could spin the same tales of adventure and intrigue that fill North Eleuthera like a high tide....but none of that is as important as WHO you rent from and the CONDITION of the property - for these two elements often make or break a trip to one of the many out islands. You will be hard pressed to find a more consummate gentlemen in all of the Bahamas and even harder pressed to find a property that is cared for like a grandchild-on-a-grandfather’s-lap.
The home sits on a great peninsula which offers beautiful view of the bay and the ocean, superb access to Harbour Island and sincere food shopping within a 15minute ride. The home is expansive with a massive courtyard, a hand dug freshwater plunge pool, hammocks under palms besides the water's edge and a circular grass driveway that is just excellent for playing soccer or for drying seashells. The peninsula is quiet with less than a 1/2 dozen full-time residents, it is private, secluded and I'm absolutely sure the golden-orange starfish in the bay outnumber humans 20 to 1. What’s not to love. We miss you dearly Uncle Tom! Looking forward to sharing a Kalik with you soon enough. - Paul & family."

"I hadn't been back since 2012 but it was just as wonderful as I remembered. The house location is lovely, oceanfront as well as lagoon-sited. Breezes all the time! There were 10 of us this time and we all had comfortable, large rooms with our own bathrooms. Large living area as well as lanais on both sides of the house make for lots of room to socialize (or escape to the hammock!). But the best part is Ruth - cook extraordinaire and housekeeper. Her meals (3/day if you want) were delicious and interesting whether it be your own fresh-caught fish or something she picked up at the grocery. She manages everything with grace and a great sense of humor.
There's much to do in Eleuthera, without the crowds of Nassau and other Bahamian islands. You can arrange to go deep-water fishing with Sid or just cruise to the uninhabited islands for snorkeling and a picnic. You can also fish and snorkel right off the beach, as well as kayak and collect shells. Cotton Bay itself is a great place to jog or walk on the road or beach. My favorite activity every day was a nap mid-afternoon, feeling the breezes from both sides of the property and listening to the surf. Paradise!"
