  • relax in paradise

"Our family has vacationed on Windermere for decades. For this vacation, we chose to rent a condo/apartment. The pictures on vrbo were very representative. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and, being the last unit on the second floor, was very private. The views of the 3 mile, pink sands beach were stunning, both from the balcony, living area and oceanfront bedroom. The owners were very responsive to my questions and very flexible on arrival/departure dates due to the last minute nature of our trip. This is an island to come and unwind, so we did not miss having a TV. In fact, that was a plus. If you cannot unplug, there is a TV in the clubhouse with satellite access. Having use of the club was great. There is a pool/tennis/and dining room open for dinner several nights per week in season. Notes provided by the owner were quite helpful as well."

  • Our Stay in Seahorse Cottage at the Edge of the Water Properties was memorable! People and Place!

"It was a joy to meet Kimy, Terry, Christine and Desmond and the place was everything that we expected and much more. Beautiful, serene, clean, simple yet well equipped. We enjoyed the cottage, the grounds, the coconuts, and taking the kayaks on the cove. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and family and we will be back."

  • So vacation. Much relax. Wow. Very sunset.

"Absolutely amazing!!!! Scott is great and everything went very smoothly. Philip was amazing and very helpful as well! It was like staying at a cabin in the woods. Except instead of woods there was beautiful turquoise water and a cliffside with a staircase carved into it. So many fish! I saw a huge lobster and an eagle ray glide through the little cove at the base of the cliff. Best week ever!"

  • must enjoy at least once in a lifetime

"We vacationed at this property for one week in July 2014; the owner has set this up to be trouble free from airport pick up to amenities, to local arrangements for entertainment and fun; The home and the feeling of the home are much better than what one can imagine by looking at photographs; all that is listed and more is available at the house; bedding is super comfortable, loved the main kithen/living room full windows toward the sound and the amazing views and freedom you get when your eyes first see it in the morning; it is the best way I found to start my day; kids loved it and time did go by slower than most other vacations we took; Peter is the caretaker of the house locally and he is very nice; word of advice is to define your requirements as far as his regular visits at the onset; the island spirit is so friendly that Peter will drop in otherwise almost daily to check on you; the welcome dinner was truly home cooked and wouldnt have traded it for anything else. Bring supplies from the states; the local population lives off the price difference between states-prices and locally charged prices therefore it gets really expensive; we would go back in a heart beat as all this gives some really sweet local flavor. DO RENT THE SUV THAT IS OFFERED TO YOU AS YOU WILL NEED A CAR TO MOVE AROUND. Thank you for Don!"

Winding Bay Travel Tips

Winding Bay Vacation Rentals

If you're planning a family vacation, then Winding Bay Vacation Rentals on Eleuthera Island offers some of the best choices for comfort, safety and fun. With a population of less than 10,000 on the hundred mile long island, staying in Winding Bay resorts and rubbing elbows with the friendly residents means you'll be able to find out about the best spots for picnics, swimming, and whatever activities your family loves.

Safe Family Fun on Eleuthera Island

Winding Bay vacation rentals are close to beautiful and often deserted beaches with protected waters that are perfect for family swims. Because of a wall of coral reef just off shore, Winding Bay waters are sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean most of the year, providing a safe haven for humans and wildlife alike. If you are visiting in July, you might get to see the start of the starfish mating season, which will mean thousands of starfish in the waters around the island. Kayaking and sailing are available and Eleuthera villas in the area are just 10 minutes from the Rock Sound airport, with daily flights to and from Nassau and other locations.

Abaco Club Golf Course on Winding Bay

To top it off, Abaco Club on Winding Bay is home to a spectacular 18-hole championship level golf course. With a playground and children's club also at Abaco, your kids won't be board while you get in a round of golf. Eleuthera is known for its beautiful pink-sanded beaches, amazing variety of cultural and historical sites and family centered activities like horseback riding. After a day of fun in the sun, no one will blame you if you leave the kids at home and head out for a night on the town. Just 15 minutes away, Rock Sound offers restaurants, shopping and souvenir stores.
