"Our time at SurfSong was one of the most wonderful weeks of my life. We had near-perfect weather, and since our visit came a bit after the main 'season', we had one of the most beautiful beaches in the world largely to ourselves. Every day upon waking to the sound of the surf, I would look out the window and be amazed at the opportunity to be in such a beautiful, peaceful place. SurfSong is a great mix of casual beach house with the comforts of home. Since it's not close to resorts or towns, it's like a private paradise. Winnie, the housekeeper, came every day and put fresh flowers in every room and made sure the house was clean. She was helpful and unobtrusive - and I wanted to record her laugh so I could hear it again when I got back to the US! It take a bit of driving to get to the nearest store or restaurant, so Surfsong is best for people who enjoy preparing and sharing meals together. We had some incredible meals made with fish caught that day by the fisherman of Tarpum Bay (about 20 minutes away). As a side note, getting used to driving on the left hand side of the road - even with a US car with the steering wheel on the left side - was easy. The biggest challenge was coming up with any reason to leave the house and beach!) That said, a day trip to Harbour Island (a short boat trip from the dock near the North Eleuthera airport) is a fantastic outing. The drive to get there takes you across the Glass Window bridge with the Atlantic on one-side and the Caribbean on the other - a stunning and beautiful natural spectacle. Harbour Island has numerous restaurants and other tourist attractions and can be toured by renting a golf cart upon arrival at the dock. (The beach is rated as one of the 5 best in the world! - and the beach at Surfsong was comparable!) I give SurfSong my highest recommendation for any group that wants a beautiful, peaceful getaway."Guest: EO Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 19, 2014View listing
"Arriving at Eleuthera was a great experience itself - just a small house which welcomed us. the House keeper John had arranged with a car, which was waiting for us outside the small airport. It took us about 1,5 hour to drive to the house which is situated about 15-20 min drive from Governors harbor. You def. need a car to get there. The house was situated up on the top of the beach, so no worries for the waves to hit the house. Beautiful beach with a few houses. The house itself had very comfortable beds, had pretty much everything you needed to cook. The only con was that the wifi wasn't stable, with all the power cuts that's seems to be going on in Eleuthera. Even though they don't last very long. The house provided us with towels, bed linen, snorkel equipment, canoes (even though it was to choppy for us to go out with small children). Ten bay beach is situated on the other side of the highway and was just the best! So many beautiful beaches on the island - breathtaking! I highly recommend this island if you need some peace, and why not stay at Bahamas Castaway at the same time!"Guest: Sandsasa Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 12, 2014View listing
"Had a great 8 days at Caribbean Blue. Second year to wonderful Eleuthera. Observations on the rental (that haven't been already stated in reviews) follow. Great location with respect to the island. Close to town, about 5-7 minutes, and central on the island. It was awesome being able to hop in the water and snorkel around right behind the house. Not a super easy access to the water, (sorta a pool ladder onto some rocks into some mildly deep water. Not like walking in on a calm beach. My wife did it and she is a sissy, but a little kid or your mom or dad might have problems). Stayed east side last time and it was a hike down to the beach, and sometimes the water was rough. The sound side was calmer and clear, and there were fish, big and small, coral, and starfish aplenty. Mostly rocky algae as opposed to coral reefs, but there were small coral heads and corals interspersed. Saw butterfly fish, sgtmjrs, yellowrays, groupers and other cool fish all the time. Saw a lobster once. I've snorkeld stt, stj, cayman and Jamaica and thought this was just great. Not insane but plenty cool. Shade and sun at all times. The tiki was nice. Outside shower nice. No beach. Downside, hard to walk on no beach. Upside, no sand all over the place. Feel the need to sweep all the time when there's sand about. Wasn't a problem here. Wouldn't recommend walking north or south of the property with less than sneakers tied tight. This however leads to the next item.. Seclusion. Didn't see anyone within 500 yards of the property (while we were there). Heard that the nearest neighbor is a snowbird. I think the only people who could have seen us was a boat or two outside said 500 yards. Fins, floaties, kayak, fishing gear, spear, coolers, chairs, NICE beach towels/bath towels, comfy beds. Nicely cleaner than my last rental. Did not want for kitchenware. Understand there is now wifi if you buy a card in town and power up an app on the home cell phone. Did not try this but seems sound in theory. You don't need wifi in paradise. Let it go. The driveway. It was too rough for the 2002 Malibu we rented last year. Glad we had the clean 09 CRV offered by Shad and Barry the caretakers. Very minor suggestions Nice lounge chairs would be cool. The existing beach chairs work but seem insufficient at "home". Additional kayak would be nice for more than two. Would recommend for two couples or fam of 5. Loved the place. Thanks Kerry, Shad and Barry."Guest: El Yo Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 2, 2014View listing
"We absolutely loved everything about Eleuthera and the house. It was exactly what we needed. A real relaxing getaway and vacation. The privacy was key but we also loved meeting the locals. The house, though a little big for just two of us, was perfect as well. We utilized the pool a lot as well as the snorkel gear, paddle board and kayaks that they had on site. Had lots of beach time and some great dinners out, as well as the infamous Friday Night Fish Fry. The property management provided helpful hints, list of activities and information about the island. We hired Pauline Binks to cook for us for about 5 days/couple meals a day. Absolutely wonderful! Jeremy Lewis took us out for a little fishing, snorkeling and good company! We are really glad we picked this place rather a hotel. We would definitely like to come back but maybe with a group of friends. Again the privacy was perfect for an anniversary celebration. Thanks again! We hope to come back soon!"Guest: T Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 24, 2014View listing
