  • Love Swept Away!

"We had some challenges getting to Staniel Cay. Our flight was delayed out of Newark to Nassau due to plane maintenance issue and we missed our connection flight to Staniel Cay. We ended up spending a night in Nassau. Barry, thank you for going the extra mile helping us get to Staniel Cay! You checked in with us as we arrived, making sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and enjoy our vacation. Milly (housekeeper) is very sweet. She picked us up at the airport, showed us how to get around town and everything else we needed during our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and letting us use your golf cart! We love the décor of the house. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and just admiring the beauty of the island. Your Swept Away home is the perfect location on the island. Very close to stores, restaurants and quiet beaches. We loved the beach closest to the Swept Away home. It’s always quiet there and made us feel like we have the whole island to ourselves. People on the island are very friendly. We enjoyed eating local foods and buying fresh homemade bread from Emil’s. The beaches here have the most pristine water we’ve ever seen. We loved visiting the pig beach. We will be back for sure to create new memories!"

  • Perfect for us

"My family and I stayed for a week in October and The Beach Shack didn't disappoint. The location is perfect with a stunning sunset view. The cottage was very clean and was fully equipped. Anytime we looked for a kitchen item or bar utensil, we found it. We had no complaints for our entire week! There were four of us and it was the perfect size. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. It is exactly what it's called, a Beach Shack. It's not new and fancy but if you are looking for a comfortable, affordable place to stay on Staniel, you won't be disappointed. The owner just added a new charcoal grill and since it was off-season and the yacht club was closed for renovation (except the bar), we cooked most of our own meals. The views from the cottage were stunning where you could watch the sunsets, the boats going by or nurse sharks and stingrays swimming by your door. The outdoor space was large with a gazebo, comfortable furniture and a hammock. We found Staniel Cay a couple of years ago and plan to go back at least once a year and we definitely will stay at the Beach Shack again. My only suggestion would be to add some solar outdoor lighting, there were rope lights but we didn't find an extension cord to plug them in. Thank you to the owner for allowing us to use her property."

  • A wonderful week of sun

"We rented both sides of Henry's vill (6 adults) for the week. The villa was well set up, clean and comfortable. The views from both sides of the porch were amazing and the gazebo at the beach was a great spot for both yoga and happy hour. The people in Blackpoint were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful day of snorkeling, lunch at the Staniel Cay yahct club, sand bars, and more.. A great reprieve from a long winter."

  • Perfect calm romantic getaway!

"Ida had everything all figured out and was very available for anything we needed. Picked us up from the airport, helped us with renting a boat (theres only one option on the island), and provided a golf cart for us for our stay. The boat rental with guide was pricy(several hundreds of dollars for the day) but is worth it for all the amazing sights and experiences. She brought us homemade coconut bread and conch fritters as well (which we interpreted as gifts but were in fact billed for later). The cottage was perfect and beautiful and was steps from an incredible beach with hardly a soul on it. It was a very peaceful environment with a front view of sunsets and the Caribbean Ocean and a back view of the sunrise and Atlantic Ocean. Definitely bring some produce from the main island, as there isn't really any produce available on any of the small islands. And any local restaurants usually operate on random and unpredictable hours. We were grateful for the groceries we brought with us! The island was perfect for those looking to stay put and relax. I would certainly stay at Idas cottages again as well as recommend them to others!!"
