  • AMAZING!! Truly Paradise

"This was our first trip to Great Exuma and it was truly amazing. I cannot say enough great things about the people, the island, the gorgeous scenery and this amazing house on the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous. The owner was a pleasure to work with and the house lived up to all our expectations. Can't wait to go back again."

  • A wonderful holiday in Paradise

"Our multi generation family has recently returned from holidaying in beautiful Exuma. We have rented world wide and staying at Mermaid House was one of our best experiences. The pictures do not do it justice..The house is situated on the best part of Tar Bay. Fabulous white sand with not a stone to be found on the ocean floor. Gorgeous sunrises from the deck (or your bed if you have one of the two front bedrooms. )Kitchen has enough cutlery/dishes/glasses for the entire island. There is Apple Tv, DVD's and Wii to play. (our 5 yr old grandson had to bowl every night before dinner!). The Annex is newer and is clean and bright (altho no ocean views). The top deck provides gorgeous views (at this time of yr best at sunset as too hot during the day!). The teak outside furniture is plentiful on the deck and there are loungers and beach chairs for the beach. Tons of beach toys for kids (as well kiddie bed/high chairs/pottie if needed). A highlight for our family was the outdoor shower. Never used the indoor! Jeniece is there to help with any needs and local stores have more than enough supplies. We enjoyed Prime Island Meats which is 4 mins down the road and will take Credit card with no surcharge. But it is the water...that glorious blue water and the miles of beach to walk which is the main draw. Go to Exuma and enjoy Mermaid House. You won't be disappointed"

  • Great rental- At a casual, laid-back island resort

"We enjoyed a lovely week in this spacious and super comfortable rental. It was very roomy for our family of four and super clean, with a pleasant living room, well-equipped kitchen and dining room space. The bedrooms were very nice with kind/queen beds (great linens), and newly renovated bathrooms (very modern and attractive and the showers had great water pressure!) I will say that towels provided by the resort were thin, but the owners had nice beach towels available, and other beach amenities (beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, etc.) Although we are not big TV people on vacation, our kids loved the fact that there were flat screen TVs with cable in every room and library of DVDs. We also enjoyed great air conditioning and ceiling fans. The kitchen was modern and well-equipped. The front porch has a nice ocean view, but direct beach access is blocked by a walkway and large planting area. It is a two minute walk to the beach, but the view is partially blocked due to vegetation. Yet you can easily hear the waves and enjoy spectacular morning sunrises! Sadly, no chaise lounges-- not enough room. The patio has a round table and 4 chairs, so nice for breakfast or dinner. The swimming pool is very nice but modest by big-resort standards. But, the spectacular, Jolly Holl beach, is 10 minute walk!---Don't miss it!!. Absolutely beautiful beach!! Forget the pool, go to the beach! The staff was super friendly and helpful! The only caveat I have is that while this is a pleasant, comfortable, laid-back resort that has everything you MIGHT want (and they will try to meet all your needs), it is NOT an ultra-LUXE resort with gift shop, coffee bar, spa, etc. (You need to go to Sandals for that…). Nonetheless, we had a wonderful week. This place fit our casual needs perfectly. The restaurant/bar (complete with swinging rope chairs by the bar) is fine for tasty, basic, well-prepared beach fare (fried conch, grilled fish, burgers, salads, fries, etc). But don't expert a gourmet experience. Perfect beach/bar fare. --Not great for discriminating foodies. (We ate there twice--fine for our family, but I would have been disappointed if I had been seeking a romantic, gourmet dinner for two...). Our stay was great overall. We appreciated the spectacular beach and ocean, the super friendly and helpful staff, and the casual, low-key, laid-back experience."

  • Totally relaxing!

"We spent a delightful week in Johanna's guest cottage being thoroughly entertained by her wonderful dogs, Lucky and Sophie. The cottage was everything described and more. We spent every morning and evening on the upper deck just relaxing and gazing at the beautiful view. Johanna's recommendations for restaurants and things to do were spot on. She was helpful in every way (she helped by making phone calls when my luggage didn't arrive) and yet was totally unobtrusive. All the beaches on Exuma are lovely, but we especially enjoyed Forbes Hill and Tropic of Cancer. Our favorite restaurants were Tropic Breeze and Santana's. When visiting Santana's, make sure to stop at Mom's Bakery right next door and across the road at the yellow shack for delicious conch fritters. We also saw a lovely sunset at a restaurant called Catch a Fire (a little pricey, but worth the view). Our first night Johanna sent us down the road (after first calling to make sure they would stay open to serve us) to Turquoise Cay. It is a nice boutique hotel and restaurant. They could not have been nicer to us. All in all, we would highly recommend Sweet Ting, and Exuma in general, to anyone who is looking for a quiet, off the beaten track vacation. We definitely hope to return! Thank you, Johanna for a great week."
