Recent Great Exuma property reviews

  • Dee

"Our family has been reliving our week spent at Villa Serenity ever since returning home. We took our family to Exuma to renew our vows for our 30th anniversary. The Villa itself was a perfect fit for our family of 7. My husband and sons had great success fly fishing for bonefish. Al was very informative prior to our arrial with all sorts of helpful info to assist in making our trip special. Kwanza at The Chat n Chill made our special day so personal and perfect. The only regret I have is that I didn't find this place sooner. We look forward to returning but in the meantime will resort to the 100's of pictures to bring back the feeling of nirvana ..."

  • That water!

"The aqua and turquoise crystal clear water is breathtaking! This gorgeous Villa overlooking the Bay leaves you wanting nothing more! Our group of 7, my husband and me, 3 'kids' 18-23 yrs old, plus two friends, had a fantastic week here! We brought an aerobed for #7, and there was plenty of space for us all. It's beautifully decorated and appointed- full kitchen, linens, washer/dryer, and grill all made our week easy. Even a water cooler to reduce bottled water waste! Our favorites of the week: (besides the Villa and manicured grounds of February Point) - Snorkeling- exceptional, right in the bay, and across to Stocking Island. Abundance of conch, starfish, sand dollars, rays, colorful fish, turtles, and coral. - Boat rental from Minns- Great to explore Elizabeth Harbour, restaurants and beaches. - Local people- so friendly, helpful, mix with visitors while dining, drinking, fishing, dancing. - Weather-stayed in the 70s-80s. Maybe a quick rainshower to keep things green, but low humidity and gentle breezes. - Bonefishing with local guide- only room for 2 adults, but challenging and fun experience. - Well maintained tennis courts on property. - Local fish fry huts, restaurants, bars. Not a culinary mecca, but good fresh conch, lobster and grilled chicken in and around George Town. Keep expectations of food and service moderate and you'll enjoy the island ambiance! - Tropic of Cancer Beach- isolated, pristine, remarkable views. - Bahamian currency is 1:1 US. Many stores/restaurants charged 3-5% for credit card use, so we used the convenient 2 banks in town to get cash. - Car rental is easy at the airport, and with one main road on the island, super easy to find your way! (Drive on the left!) Without a car, town is a doable 10 minute walk from the villa. We will definitely come back! The hospitality of the owners, on-site concierge, and local islanders can't be beat. We have much more to explore. - -"

  • They Don't Call it Paradise Point for Nothing!

"I am a returner 'offender' as I have been to this rental property and Great Exuma several times. I will warn those who are looking for the Ritz or an all inclusive -- you've come to the wrong place! This is a wonderful island and a wonderful house. It sits up overlooking an almost private beach -- saw one other person while we were there -- and a bluer-than-blue ocean view. The house is open and bright with the main living room big enough for four of us to relax comfortably when we were there. The kitchen was showing some salt/sand wear and tear but we were told by the owner that the kitchen remodeling would be done this fall to include new cabinets, countertops and appliances! If you are looking for a affordable retreat away from a typical touristy beach, this island and this home is definitely the place for you. Unlike other resort islands, vacationers have the opportunity to absorb the culture and interact with the locals -- Sunday pig roast on Stocking Island is a must! PS the owner and caretaker were very friendly and took care of us and any requests we had... and coming from a busy city like Washington, DC the traffic (an occasional car) I saw someone else comment about -- was definitely not worth noting!
