"Yellow Bird was a wonderful house for our family. We have three college age children who had the back house while my husband and I had the main house. The new kitchen is amazing! There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the amazing weather. We spent time at the pool and resting on the bed in the pool cabana. The kids had friends over at night to sit by the pool and have cocktails at the pool bar. We could walk to the Piggly Wiggly and to Daddy D's and the bakery. Truly an amazing vacation spot. The house is convenient and charming. It was great to have a bathroom for every bedroom. We will return!"

"My family and i stayed at the Royall Lyme for Thanksgiving 2014. We had never been to Harbor Island but my family has a tradition of going away for turkey day AND i was turning 40. So we decided that going to the island off the island off the island of Nassau was appropriate. Everything about the house and the island charmed our pants off. We were 6 total people including 2 young kids. The house and grounds were spectacular: lots of room; felt like our own little compound (cause it was), we had the pool heated and was a great post-beach option; not super-luxurious accommodations but felt very hutchinson island (which is all about understated luxury).
There are wild roosters running around the island and the property which adds to the other worldliness of the place. All in all it felt like a fantastic fantasy island, where all the locals literally know all the other locals. 98% of people are super friendly. You will run into the stuck-up shop owner here and there (Blue Rooster) but that is quickly replaced with the charm you encounter everywhere else. And i have to say, I've never evert felt better, softer sand in my life. I stumbled upon this place online cause it was called the Nantucket of the Caribbean. And i heart Nantucket. They are both roll up your pant legs, get your feet sandy/dirty/wet. If you like the soul of nantucket vs the look at my yacht it's bigger than yours side of nantucket -then this is the island for you. It's a playground for people who live well but don't need to show off.
Practical things to note:
- the house is a stone's throw from where the water taxi drops you off. No need to take a cab when you get in.
- Rock House takes itself way too seriously. Everywhere else was a better and more island-appropriate meal.
- Sip Sip was fun and worth every penny.
- Lunch at Coral Sands and Pink Sands was fun and fantastic
- The island is $10 a gallon of organic milk and $30 lunch entree expensive
- Low tide at the beach is God's gift to young kids. Perfect water. Perfect little bitty waves
- Faye the housekeeper has a restaurant on friday-saturday that you should try
- You can buy fish right off the dock when the guy comes back just before sunrise
- Buy beer across the street from Queen Conch when sitting there to eat ($8 for 3 beers and 2 waters, best deal on the island)in the liquor store
- From here you can walk to everything you'd want to walk to in town - no problem
- you will want a cart though to get to the beach"

"We had the distinct pleasure of spending a week in this little cottage, a small paradise with a spectacular hostess. The property is beautiful, well maintained and quiet. Within a couple of minutes you are lounging on an expansive beach, almost by yourself, listening to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
The cottage is well maintained, organized and very cosy. Everything you need is there and if it isn't, Rosie will do her best to get it for you. Rosie is a very interesting and fascinating woman who was so helpful and accomodating, even beyond the call of duty...
The cottage is located at the south end of the island in a nice quiet neighborhood. As is the norm, we had a golf cart rented which allowed us to come and go as we pleased.
We strongly recommend at stay at the Mermaid Retreat and take time to chat with Rosie. She is an amazing woman and we loved our week with her.
Rosie, Thank you again for your help, your compassion and your stories. Miss you,
The Allains & the Whites
New Brunswick, Canadao"

"We loved Harbour Island and Chatterbox! The house is so adorable and has such beautiful woodwork, doors, linens, artwork, fixtures and decor. We just loved every square inch!! It was so charming. It is conveniently located right downtown however we never felt it was loud or disturbing. The house is very private with lots of palm trees surrounding it. Harbour Island is a special place. My kids loved riding around in the golf carts. The local people there are so friendly and there were plenty of things to do - fishing, horse back riding, motor boat and sailboat rentals etc. The pink sand beach is so beautiful and the water was so warm and an added bonus was the surf. The waves were big but not so big that my youngest (age 11) was afraid - just perfect for body surfing. There are plenty of delicious restaurants but if you're a family on a budget the kitchen in Chatterbox is well equipped and there is a Weber grill. We loved the house and used every porch, deck and room and loved them all. The owner is very nice, hospitable, responsive and conscientious. Thank you for taking such care to provide such a beautiful home for others to rent and enjoy!!!"
