  • CHARMING AND SPECIAL

"A friend had recommended Harbour Island. What a wonderful and charming surprise. My partner and I selected Oleander for our stay; and that, too, did not disappoint. Who would have thought a rental would include every amenity! We could watch our favourite television programs and check emails in the evening after a perfect afternoon on Harbour Island's beautiful pink sands beach. Oleander has a patio off the kitchen - perfect for breakfast; a quiet, colourful, lush garden off the living room - perfect for cocktails; and a roof-top deck - perfect for the beautiful Bahamian sunsets! The house has a great feeling of spaciousness and a most charming decor. Oleander's location on a quiet street in Dunmore Town allows one to wander this quaint village and visit the shops, restaurants and harbour. The famous pink sands beach is just a short golf cart drive which is very interesting and great fun, too! We cannot wait to return to the very special, well-loved Oleander."

  • the house at the corner of paradise and bliss

"My family and i stayed at the Royall Lyme for Thanksgiving 2014. We had never been to Harbor Island but my family has a tradition of going away for turkey day AND i was turning 40. So we decided that going to the island off the island off the island of Nassau was appropriate. Everything about the house and the island charmed our pants off. We were 6 total people including 2 young kids. The house and grounds were spectacular: lots of room; felt like our own little compound (cause it was), we had the pool heated and was a great post-beach option; not super-luxurious accommodations but felt very hutchinson island (which is all about understated luxury). There are wild roosters running around the island and the property which adds to the other worldliness of the place. All in all it felt like a fantastic fantasy island, where all the locals literally know all the other locals. 98% of people are super friendly. You will run into the stuck-up shop owner here and there (Blue Rooster) but that is quickly replaced with the charm you encounter everywhere else. And i have to say, I've never evert felt better, softer sand in my life. I stumbled upon this place online cause it was called the Nantucket of the Caribbean. And i heart Nantucket. They are both roll up your pant legs, get your feet sandy/dirty/wet. If you like the soul of nantucket vs the look at my yacht it's bigger than yours side of nantucket -then this is the island for you. It's a playground for people who live well but don't need to show off. Practical things to note: - the house is a stone's throw from where the water taxi drops you off. No need to take a cab when you get in. - Rock House takes itself way too seriously. Everywhere else was a better and more island-appropriate meal. - Sip Sip was fun and worth every penny. - Lunch at Coral Sands and Pink Sands was fun and fantastic - The island is $10 a gallon of organic milk and $30 lunch entree expensive - Low tide at the beach is God's gift to young kids. Perfect water. Perfect little bitty waves - Faye the housekeeper has a restaurant on friday-saturday that you should try - You can buy fish right off the dock when the guy comes back just before sunrise - Buy beer across the street from Queen Conch when sitting there to eat ($8 for 3 beers and 2 waters, best deal on the island)in the liquor store - From here you can walk to everything you'd want to walk to in town - no problem - you will want a cart though to get to the beach"

  • Charming Beach Cottage for the Perfect Holiday

"The pictures hardly do justice to the lovely beachfront cottage, in a quiet, upscale residential neighborhood. We enjoyed a few weeks of pure relaxation listening to the clear blue waters and enjoying the almost deserted pink sand beaches. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The local housekeeper was very helpful - nothing was to much trouble for her to help make our stay as pleasant as possible. the owner went out of her way to give us lots of information before we went so we were well prepared and experienced a lot of what the island had to offer. Perfect spot for a romantic getaway!"

  • Perfect house!

"Our family of 6 stayed for 7 nights in this home. We LOVED it! We walked with our 7 rolling suitcases about 100 feet from the gov dock to the front gate of the house. Our golf cart (from Sunshine Rentals) was waiting for us by the gate with the key in it. (Golf cart was a bit ragged out, but they made it right) The home is adorable on the outside, and beautiful, clean, spacious, comfortable, and well equipped on the inside. Lawrence helped us when we asked, and Judy was like a little elf (came in quickly while we were away and made the house look perfect again). She never touched our personal things (which we really appreciated) like some hotel cleaning ladies do. The owner sent us detailed directions and tips after booking that came in very handy leading up to our vacation, and during our stay. The beach chairs and umbrella provided were so wonderful to have. There were boogie boards and sand toys to use. Handy outdoor shower. We loved having the large back patio for all of our wet hats, towels, snorkel gear, and stuff at the end of the day at the beach. Plenty of pots, dishes, cooking utensils, etc in the kitchen. I would load up the dishwasher each morning and start it before we left for the beach or Eleuthera…and Judy would always unload it for me. Our kids loved all of the space to spread out and play. There is a 5 gallon jug of bottled drinking water under kitchen sink with a spigot at the sink. The owner told us to call the water company on the bottle for a replacement and sit the empty jug out on the front porch with $6. It was that simple both times we called for a replacement. The owner provided an extra full jug for us, to the side in the kitchen,…so there was never a time without water. Bring your own refillable water bottles from home, so you can fill with the house water and take with you to the beach. A large bottle of water at the Blue Bar at the beach is $5.50! This home is convenient to the dock and little cute town. It looks out at the dock and marina side of the island. We felt safe. It's not the beach side, but a fast 3 minute FUN golf cart ride away from the beach. We highly recommend this home for your large family or group. We were sad to leave!"
