"My family and i stayed at the Royall Lyme for Thanksgiving 2014. We had never been to Harbor Island but my family has a tradition of going away for turkey day AND i was turning 40. So we decided that going to the island off the island off the island of Nassau was appropriate. Everything about the house and the island charmed our pants off. We were 6 total people including 2 young kids. The house and grounds were spectacular: lots of room; felt like our own little compound (cause it was), we had the pool heated and was a great post-beach option; not super-luxurious accommodations but felt very hutchinson island (which is all about understated luxury).
There are wild roosters running around the island and the property which adds to the other worldliness of the place. All in all it felt like a fantastic fantasy island, where all the locals literally know all the other locals. 98% of people are super friendly. You will run into the stuck-up shop owner here and there (Blue Rooster) but that is quickly replaced with the charm you encounter everywhere else. And i have to say, I've never evert felt better, softer sand in my life. I stumbled upon this place online cause it was called the Nantucket of the Caribbean. And i heart Nantucket. They are both roll up your pant legs, get your feet sandy/dirty/wet. If you like the soul of nantucket vs the look at my yacht it's bigger than yours side of nantucket -then this is the island for you. It's a playground for people who live well but don't need to show off.
Practical things to note:
- the house is a stone's throw from where the water taxi drops you off. No need to take a cab when you get in.
- Rock House takes itself way too seriously. Everywhere else was a better and more island-appropriate meal.
- Sip Sip was fun and worth every penny.
- Lunch at Coral Sands and Pink Sands was fun and fantastic
- The island is $10 a gallon of organic milk and $30 lunch entree expensive
- Low tide at the beach is God's gift to young kids. Perfect water. Perfect little bitty waves
- Faye the housekeeper has a restaurant on friday-saturday that you should try
- You can buy fish right off the dock when the guy comes back just before sunrise
- Buy beer across the street from Queen Conch when sitting there to eat ($8 for 3 beers and 2 waters, best deal on the island)in the liquor store
- From here you can walk to everything you'd want to walk to in town - no problem
- you will want a cart though to get to the beach"

"I just spent 2 weeks at this property, a beautiful hideaway on Harbour Island, one of the loveliest islands in the Bahamas. Nestled in lovely landscaping on the southern end of the island, this property is minutes from the world famous pink sands beach, and even less to the bay side of the island, famous for spectacular sunsets. A large bedroom, efficiency kitchen, a good sized bathroom, and outdoor patio, all very moderately priced make this an ideal spot for a vacation. The piece de resistance is the rooftop deck atop the house where my friend and I had morning coffee, lunch, and a drink at evening as we watched sun go down. The very friendly owner of the property, a former chef, is available at all times for questions regarding directions, restaurant recommendations, special events, and general info on this amazing little jewel in the Bahamas. She also arranged a sightseeing boat trip around the bay for us, and introduced us to several local people This is a very special property at a very reasonable price on an island noted for its celebrity homes and lodging. I'm definitely planning a return visit!"

"This was a great place for our family to stay while enjoying Harbour Island. It is centrally located on the island which makes everything very easy to get to. There is plenty of shade around the place so it never got to hot inside for us. The place had everything you could need in a vacation property!"

"We arrived at the dock by water taxi, on the morn of July 16, to find it was only a short walk to the Blue Dolphin. We could've taken a taxi or a golf cart to our weekend hideout, but we decided to taste the local flavor by hoofing it 3 very short blocks. Don't ya love bags w/wheels? We came off the dock, turned left, (north), and in 5mins we were home. VERY COOL. The staff had the A/C dialed in, and the Dolphin was spacious. We flopped down on the bed, w/smiles on our faces. After a min or so, we unpacked, & got to the business of getting to know "da eye-land". That's always the fun part. Rented a golf cart & cruised around for cpl of hrs. You CANNOT get lost on Harbour Island. "Wax on, Wax off". The bay is west, the ocean east. I cannot say enough about Blue Dolphin sunsets. INCREDULOUS!!! Island food a blk or two away. Ck out Brian's, for some GREAT home cooked food, in a "locals" atmosphere. We had one major glitch in the Blue Dolphin Matrix. NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!😎. Ck it out. If u like local flavor, you'll love it. If u like snooty and presumptuous, go to a resort that separates u from da eye-land cultcha. For a good groove, the Blue Dolphin fits very well. Peace
