  • The Blue Dolphin is a MUST.

"We stayed at the Blue Dolphin this past Thanksgiving holiday week. We won our stay at the Blue Dolphin at a fundraising event. The house setting is serene and sublime. It is centrally located. It is at a walking distance from the pier, and 10 minuted walk to the beautiful pink sandy beach. It faces the west allowing us to enjoy gorgeous sun sets everyday of our stay. At night the neighborhood comes to life. We had a chance to wittness a couple of rehersal for the Junkanoo parade, joining them in dancing. The house is surrounded by grocery stores, Arthur-the best breakfast and bakery in town, several craft stores and restaurants. As for the house itself, well we fell in love with it. It is charming, welcoming, can easily accomodate 15 people, yet you can have your own privacy as there are 5 seperate master-bedrooms. We enjoyed having breakfast on the back porch overlooking the secluded, well maintained, attractive backyard. We enjoyed relaxing on the hammock, under the palm tree, sitting around the fire pit surrounded by a tropical lush greenery. The owners, Kathy and Jamie made sure that we are welcomed and well served. The house came with a wonderful house keeper, a friendly gardner/fisherman (who could supply you fish if interested), and a talented cook, who happened to own a restaurant nearby that served Bahamian food. As for the native people, they are extremely welcoming, friendly and happy to serve you- except for "grouchy Mr. Jonhson" from the golf cart rental shop. Do not worry, there are several other cart rental stores. Yes, most people travel using golf cart. We enjoyed everday of our stay. We went hicking along the southern shore, deep sea fishing, walked everyday the sandy beach. It was also the most relaxing, beautiful vacation ever. It is a piece of Heaven on earth. The day of our departure, a feeling of sadness took our hearts as we were not ready to go back to reality. We wished if we could stay longer. But deep inside we knew that we shall return. The Blue Dolpin is a MUST."

  • Affordable for Family of 4

"This was a great place for our family to stay while enjoying Harbour Island. It is centrally located on the island which makes everything very easy to get to. There is plenty of shade around the place so it never got to hot inside for us. The place had everything you could need in a vacation property!"

  • A Tropical Treasure

"I just spent 2 weeks at this property, a beautiful hideaway on Harbour Island, one of the loveliest islands in the Bahamas. Nestled in lovely landscaping on the southern end of the island, this property is minutes from the world famous pink sands beach, and even less to the bay side of the island, famous for spectacular sunsets. A large bedroom, efficiency kitchen, a good sized bathroom, and outdoor patio, all very moderately priced make this an ideal spot for a vacation. The piece de resistance is the rooftop deck atop the house where my friend and I had morning coffee, lunch, and a drink at evening as we watched sun go down. The very friendly owner of the property, a former chef, is available at all times for questions regarding directions, restaurant recommendations, special events, and general info on this amazing little jewel in the Bahamas. She also arranged a sightseeing boat trip around the bay for us, and introduced us to several local people This is a very special property at a very reasonable price on an island noted for its celebrity homes and lodging. I'm definitely planning a return visit!"

  • Fabulous vacation in the perfect home!

"We just got back from a week's vacation at Afterthought and we could not be more pleased!! This home is an absolute jewel in the heart of Harbour Island. Our party had 3 couples and 3 babies, and we found the house perfect for accommodating our needs. The home was exquisitely decorated and thoroughly cleaned and maintained daily by Francine. Having the babies, it was so convenient to be in the middle of town for popping into the grocery store, going for walks in the early morning, etc. Meanwhile, it was quiet, spacious, and truly relaxing. We cooked big dinners each night, and were repeatedly surprised at how complete the kitchen was in terms of pots and pans, counter-space, tupperware, etc. The pool in the backyard was perfect for the adults and the babies. The babies loved the little waterfall and the hum of the waterfall was very tranquil. It was nice to have the option to stay back if one of the babies was having a non-beach sort of day. The grounds are nicely landscaped and well-maintained, so spending the day on the back porch, backyard, and in the pool was private, peaceful, and enjoyable. We kayaked, went to the beach, explored the flats (and found sand dollars), strolled around town, chartered a boat to explore the harbor, and went deep sea fishing and caught more Mahi Mahi than we could eat AND a giant yellow finned tuna! Our vacation was memorable and in a word -- fantastic. Thank you, Mallory, for sharing your special home with us!! We will definitely be back!"
