Once in the Bahamas, you can also get to Harbour Island by using the Bahamas Fast Ferries. From Nassau, you will take the ferry to Spanish Wells, Eleuthera and then on to Harbour island. This is a quick and convenient way to get between the islands. If you are on your own timetable, you can make use of both land and water taxis to get to Harbour Island. Once on the island, the most popular way to get around is to hire a golf buggy.

Harbour Island Travel Attractions

One dive site in particular is ranked at one of the world’s best. The dive is called Current Cut Dive and only recommended for advanced divers who are experienced in drift diving. The current flows extremely fast along rock walls that run between Harbour Island and Current Island and it is a thrilling experience. Divers can drift as far as two to three miles in as little as 10 minutes. Snorkeling excursions can easily be arranged on the colorful tropical reefs. Anglers can try their luck surf fishing from the rocks or chartering a boat for a deep sea fishing excursion.

On land, you can browse the many street side stalls in Dunmore for souvenirs and crafts. In Dunmore Town, there are several historical sites that are interesting to visit. The town was well known for its sugar refineries, rum distilleries and ship building in the 1800s. The historic Hill Steps were built from stone hewn by local inhabitants. The Titus Hole is a cave overlooking the bay that is believed to have served as a jail at one point in time.
