  • Lovely place for a secluded relaxing vacation in the Bahamas

"In general, the Waters Edge is a lovely place to stay if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in The Bahamas. It is well-maintained and has easy access to clear waters for snorkeling. While we were there, we saw several manta rays along with the usual fish seen when snorkeling. A few items to note: 1. The mattresses in 3 of the 4 rooms were not comfortable and need to be replaced (along with adding a box spring to one of the beds). Of the 6 adults staying at the house, 4 slept on the couch at one point during our stay and a 5th adult would have if the couch was not already occupied. 2. If you’re looking to enjoy the nightlife of Nassau or Paradise Island, you should know that the house is located in a residential area approximately 5 miles from the main tourist area. You will either need to rent a car (and search for parking downtown) or be prepared to use a taxi for your trips (costs about $25 each way). There is a phone in the home you can use for local calls, and in Nassau taxis are plentiful for the return trip. We used Joe’s Taxi (recommended by the owner) for most of our transportation needs. Joe’s was very accommodating, prompt and had reasonable rates. 3. If you plan on dining in during your stay, the nearest grocery store is approximately a mile away (on the other side of a hill – good to know if walking) but you can order groceries (and charcoal) online for delivery. When we arrived, we also had Joe stop at a grocery store and liquor store before taking us to the house, which worked well. There are no restaurants within easy walking distance. 4. The beaches near the home are public beaches, rocky and, in general, not well maintained. You will see broken bottles and other garbage on the beaches. Not good for small children. This does not reflect on the quality of the property, but something good to know if you are hoping to spend time on the beach."

  • Great villa, great location

"My son and his 3 friends stayed in this unit for a high school graduation getaway. The villa was roomy enough for them and was fully equipped. This unit even had a washer and dryer which was convenient to dry wet towels and bathing suits. It had all the bed linens and bath towels needed. The grounds were clean and there was security 24/7. Tammy and Ken who own the unit were great in answering our questions. Renting this unit was easy and the location was great. The boys were able to walk to Atlantis as well as some restaurants. The beach was uncrowded and lots of offers for water sports. Bring your snorkeling gear because we saw fish and stingrays everyday, it was great!!! There is a beach bar in front of the hotel on the beach and a gazebo offering massages. We can't wait to go back to paradise."

  • A place to relax

"My whole family had a happy time there. Since we planned on spending our time mainly at the house, we did not need to rent a car. Traffic seemed kinda crazy anyway, and why stressing out on the wrong side of the road. Thanks to Billy for taking us to the supermarket upon arrival. Afterwards we just walked there or took the bus for eating out. Bank was a half mile walk, sometimes in the warm rain. Not once we felt like going to a public beach. The direct access to the ocean down from the patio was like having a private beach. In the water people with boats or jet skis would offer their services, and after dismissing the rip-off artists, we were able to recognize fair offers from a couple of decent guys (like a boat tour with the son of the sports store owners across the street). We have been in many hotels and rentals over the years, but somehow the time in the "yellow house" seems like our best vacation ever. Read the other reviews for more details. It's all true... I guess it all depends what people are looking for, but as far as this listing goes, WYSIWYG. Recommended for: folks who value some privacy and don't freak out if they cannot find the pasta strainer."

  • Fantastic Rental! Clean, Beautiful and Perfect Location!

"We spent 7 days at this townhome during early December. There were 5 of us total - three adults and two small children (4 yrs & 5 yrs). This townhome was exactly as pictured - recent updates make it a delightful place to stay and the location can't be beat. Falling asleep to the ocean waves and waking up to coffee on the (amazing) patio furniture with a fabulous view, were our favorite parts of this place. You are right by both the pool and the ocean - there were people snorkeling daily off the pier. Our son was lucky enough to see a sting ray one day! In terms of location in Nassua - you are right in the middle of everything. It was a short drive to downtown (rent a van from Barbara) - and driving wasn't really a challenge. There are two grocery stores in close proximity - in addition to many restaurants. Admittedly we spent many a nights at the Twisted Lime Restaurant/Bar - they had a great selection of food for the kids and everything we had was always very good. We did take advantage of the full kitchen, and ate most lunches and all breakfast's at the townhome - this was really nice. We spent the majority of our days exploring the numerous beaches (including the one in front of the Poop Deck restaurant - a short walk from the townhome). We did take two day trips to Atlantis and Blue Lagoon Island. Both were a good time! We anxiously await our next trip to Nassau!"
