  • Awesome retreat

"My husband and I just spent a week at Cockleshell Beach Cottage. I think we found paradise - out the back door. This is an amazing location - if you are looking to relax and just enjoy the water! It is right on the beach. Perfect location."

  • Wonderful vacation spot! We will be back!!

"Our tans are being to fade already but not the wonderful memories we have of our 7 day stay at Summer Breeze Villa. The house was as described and had plenty of room for my family of 5. While you can catch a glimpse of the ocean from the house and the deck, there is now a house built on a lot between Summer Breeze and the beach so there really isn't a great view of the water; however, it didn't detract from our stay or our enjoyment of the house at all but feel I should mention it. The house is really well stocked with comfortable beds and linens (cotton quilts which I appreciated!), as well as a great selection of DVDs which my kids really enjoyed. This is a stress free place to come and while it is not luxurious, it is a very comfortable, "homey" place to unwind and recharge. The island itself is incredible! Very clean and safe. The house is a short walk from a gorgeous beach where we were usually the only ones there. Our favorite things to do were to walk the beach, finding shells and sand dollars, kayaking and driving the golf cart we rented around the island. We also enjoyed getting fresh fish from Bernard's and grilling it on the great gas grill on the deck. The owners were awesome to deal with calling us the day we arrived and the day we left. They arranged our pickup and drop off at the airport and gave us important tips to make our vacation more enjoyable. I would highly recommend calling Captain Ryan and book a day on his boat. He is a wealth of information about the area and the ocean-whether you book him for fishing (which we did) or a tour, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend visiting Spanish Wells and staying at Summer Breeze."

  • Excellent location for an excellent vacation in Spanish Wells

"My wife and I stayed in "Boondocks" apartment. It's not a large unit, but it's all you needed for two people. We had everything we needed in the apartment. One bedroom, bathroom and shower, kitchen and living room area. The owner Boone will answer all of your questions about your reservation and the island. Boone made us feel completely safe about our decision to rent his apartment. I would definitely rent from Boone in the future. Boone has a representative on the island and his name is Johnny Underwood. Johnny will make sure you are escorted from the airport to the boat dock then to your apartment. This is a unique vacation and getting to the island is half the fun. You can only enter onto the island by a boat. Here was our itinerary. Miami airport to North Eleuthera Island Airport. Taxi from North Eleuthera Airport to Jean's Bay Boat dock. (about 6 miles) Then, a short boat ride over to Spanish Wells. (about a half mile) Your taxi driver to the boat dock will also be your boat captain to Spanish Wells. Johnny will pick you up from the Spanish Wells boat dock and take you on a golf cart to the house. Your won't get this type of customer service in the US. Once you get to the house, it's time to vacation. Boone has everything at the house to keep you busy. He has two bicycles and two kayaks for your use during your vacation. It's easy to get around the island on a bicycle, but I would recommend renting a golf cart from Johnny for the week. We would ride bikes in the morning and take the golf cart out at night for dinner. At the house, the view is incredible and you're 30 feet from the beach. You can enjoy the patio or walk down to the beach. The beach is great. At low tides, you can probably walk a mile in half on the beach and you probably won't pass a person during your walk. It's like your own private island. You will love it. You must be prepared for a relaxing vacation because there's not a lot of entertainment on the island. They have 5 restaurants on the island. (1 restaurant and 4 small dinners) The main restaurant is called the Shipyard. Great location, great breeze and a great outside deck for dining. You can also take ride on your bikes/golf cart over the bridge to Russell Island. No restaurants on that island, but it was fun to explore during the day. Make sure to pick up a map when you get on Spanish Wells Island. My wife and I fell in love with the island and the people. Great island, great island scenery, great local people! Enjoy"

  • Simply the Best

"I've rented very many properties but never felt so welcome or had such a great time as I did here. The cheery wooden building has an upstairs with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. There’s another en-suite bedroom downstairs and a useful half-bath/laundry room. The house has everything you need from well equipped kitchen to fast internet connection. Outside is a large deck with table, chairs, deck chairs and a comfortable sofa. A few feet away is the lovely white sand beach. I’d say the location is the best on the island and Jody and Tara are building a second house next door. They were away on our arrival day so Jody’s lovely mum showed us to the house and helped us with supplies. His dad popped round later to check we were settling in okay. Spanish Wells and Russell Island can be explored with the golf cart. It fits perfectly with the laidback feel of the place and allows the friendly locals time to wave as they pass. There's always something to do on the beach, you can snorkel off it, enjoy the sea kayaks with a trip to the small rocky islands opposite the house, go walking or shelling or get your camera out or just relax on the loungers under the warm Bahamian sun. After dark there’s an excellent view of the Milky Way. We had everything from windy and stormy to pleasant and calm, it all added interest and didn't stop us doing anything we wanted. If you wish to go a little further afield take a short boat ride to Eleuthera and watch the Atlantic crash into the Caribbean at the Glass Window then take a drive to see caves, rock pools and beaches. The ferries from the other side of Eleuthera will take you to Harbour Island. Snorkelling in the warm waters around Spanish Wells or on Devil's Backbone reef is a must, they’re teaming with interesting sea life for you to look at. Then there's Jody and Tara, two of the nicest, most generous people you’ll ever meet. Nothing is too much trouble, they just want you to have a great holiday. The lobster tails they welcomed us with were only topped by Jody's enviable skill with a bbq. Let's just say that Jody was also a big help with our day trips, the result being a brilliant and totally stress free holiday. You might arrive as strangers, but you'll leave as friends. Thank you Jody and Tara. I can pay this place no greater compliment than to say I want to go back. If you want to rent a relaxing slice of paradise from a couple of completely trustworthy and decent people, stop looking, you just found it."
