  • Wonderful

"This house is wonderful, and there is really no other way to describe it. If you are interested in relaxing this is the place for you. We spent the entire week on the beach right in front of the house and didn't see anyone else until the day before we left. The house is located about a 2 minute drive from Georgetown where you can eat out or buy your groceries. Which was very convenient. The homeowners were very nice and provided us a lot of information before our stay. We would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking to stay in Exuma."

  • Family Voted Best Vacation Ever!

"We have visited many Bahama out islands and even owned a beachfront home in Great Harbour Cay for some years. I can say that Green Turtle Cay is by far one of our best experiences to date. GTC has the "off the beaten path" out island feel that we like - yet offers a wide variety of eateries and conveniences. The "Peaceful Times" is a lovely well built home and perfect for our family of four - very comfortable. The interior is efficient, neat and clean with plenty of linens and supplies. The vaulted ceilings and high windows throughout the home was an unexpected delight. FUN STUFF: The golf cart rental from Sea Side carts is a must and was the conduit for each days new adventure. The beautiful white sand beach access is really close to the house - just a few minutes walk. Cracked conch dinner with rice and peas at Wrecking Tree restaurant was outstanding as was our grouper meal at McIntosh's Restaurant and ice cream cones here too. Sid's grocery was clean and well stocked, Lowe's and Curry's markets also had many items as well as frozen meats of all kinds including fish, lobster and conch. Be sure to pick up a loaf of the fresh baked Bahama breads available in the stores each morning. Our favorite was the warm coconut bread which most days didn't make it back to the house! Our daughter combed the beaches and found beautiful shells and sea glass and took hundreds of pictures. Our son learned to cast a fly rod during our stay and ended up wading the flats with us. We located a goodly amount of bone fish schools tailing in two different areas along the flats on the West side and these are easily accessible. The family voted and this was one of our favorite family vacations ever....and we have teenagers! Thank you Paul and Diane!"

  • Unpretentious slice of paradise

"Off the Reef was exactly what I had hoped: Clean, comfortable, casual, and a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My wife and I spent our 20th anniversary here and LOVED it. We spent the first two days just walking the beach, snorkeling and swinging in the hammock. The grounds at OTR are beautiful. So is the beach. We saw very few other people on it the entire week. Most romantic. We prefer cooking to eating out and the kitchen was well-stocked. So was the "fun stuff" closet once we started to feel adventurous. Snorkeling gear, lots of good towels, binoculars, bicycles, etc. The only word of caution I would offer prospective renters is to let you know that the infrastructure on Eluthera is 3rd world. The internet goes out sometimes, as does the TV. There are few street signs. The water went out when we were there but the property mgr came out and switched us to cistern within hours. No problemo. If you can deal with these little inconveniences I highly recommend OTR. To me it's all part of the relaxing charm of Eluthera."

  • Absolutely Lovely!

"This cottage was an absolutely lovely place to stay! The pictures are extremely accurate - you will not be disappointed! The care taker checked in with us the morning after we arrived to make sure all was well and let us know how to contact her. The owner called us twice while we were there to make sure everything was satisfactory and answer any questions we had. We felt very well taken care of! This was a 2 couple trip, so we each had a king size bedroom and bathroom of our own with a shared living room & kitchen to separate the spaces. It was perfect! This would also be good for a small family or a girls trip. The area is safe and everyone we met was laid back and friendly! The kitchen here is very well stocked. You can cook anything here. Maxwell's grocery store, which is only a 5 minute drive, has everything you could ask for in a grocery store. 2 of us are "gluten free" and it was no problem finding pasta, crackers and more. We chose to rent a car & would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to explore. The drive to Treasure Cay was nice and it was by far my favorite destination. The restaurant there had good food, and the beach was picture perfect! Cherokee Sound is another gem (with hardly a soul around) which we found after driving to Pete's Pub in Little Harbor. We took the ferry down the road from the cottage to Hope Town where we climbed to the top of the lighthouse, had lunch at Firefly, & shopped the cute local shops. We also took another ferry to Guana Cay for lunch at Nippers & a walk to Grabbers. Quite the "girls gone wild" atmosphere at Nippers. Interesting people watching but we all agreed we'd seen it once & don't feel the need to return :-) Not a good place for kids! We hired a captain with a 40 ft. sailboat for a 2 day / 1 night sailing adventure. We snorkeled the reefs at Fowl Cay & Mermaid. It was so relaxing and much cooler out on the water. This was a wonderful vacation. You can do as much as you'd like or absolutely nothing! The location of this cottage is central to everything. We would highly recommend this home and this location to everyone!"
