Paynes Bay Travel Tips

Paynes Bay Vacation Rentals

Paynes Bay Vacation Rentals are located on the west coast of Barbados, south of the city of Holetown. Holetown is the site of the original British settlement on Barbados and lies in the center of the parish called St. James. Paynes Bay resorts are very popular with tourists as they are situated near the best swimming beaches in Barbados. Calm, warm, easily accessible—it's not hard to imagine yourself walking to Paynes Bay Beach from your comfortable Paynes Beach Vacation Rental. Alternatively, if you wish to base your stay in an accommodation that can give you a sense of old world charm, you can try out one from the many St. James Barbados villas that dot the scenic beach-fronts.

Feed Sea Turtles at Paynes Bay

The capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, is within easy driving distance from Paynes Bay, as is the Grantley Adams International Airport near the southern end of the island. At Paynes Bay, you can swim with and feed sea turtles, which are tame enough to eat from your hand. A wonderful place for underwater photography, there are thousands of fish swarming around the coral reefs close to the island. Paynes Bay is a white sand beach and one of the best beaches for swimming or working on your tan. Paynes Bay is the perfect spot for diving and snorkeling too. You can also rent jet skis, a parasail, or scuba diving equipment, with instructors if so desired.

Barbados Offers Many Duty-free Shops

Once the sun goes down, it's time to check out the many duty-free stores and shops on the island that sell everything from well known brands of clothing and necessaries to pottery made by local artists. You can still have an English breakfast and afternoon tea in most areas, but there are also local delights to try, so don't be shy. Holetown boasts several of the best eating spots on the island and transportation is made easy with a bus system, car rentals and taxi cabs. You won't have to miss a thing!
