  • Paradise Found

"We chose the Weston house to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. And we are glad we did! Arriving frazzled and hungry from the flight and travel, Deborah and her team immediately made feel relaxed and welcomed. They took care of everything. After purchasing groceries, I was ready to put them away. "No, no, we will do that." said Deborah and they took them and put them away for us. At that point I realized, now this is the start of vacation. On Saturday night, Deborah had a delicious meal of flying fish and chicken prepared and served to us. For breakfast, we were on our own, which was nice because it gave everyone time to linger at their own morning pace. Since we had 2 toddlers and a baby with us, we did not venture out too much. Though, we did go to the Barbados Wildlife Reserve (Deborah's suggestion) and the St. Nicholas Abbey. Otherwise, we lounged around the pool, the gazebo and the beach. Weston House had a kayak which our family really enjoyed. We snorkled, swam, lounged and made sand castles on their lovely and peaceful beach. I cannot say enough about the Weston House. We had enough room for all 9 of us to spread around. Deborah and her team were warm, friendly and helpful. And by the way, Deobrah is an amazing cook, she even shared recipes with me. For me, one of the highlights of this vacation was everyday they did our laundry. I felt like a queen. For our 40th Wedding anniversary we wanted a vacation that our family and us could remember for years and years. The Weston House delivered that and more. Thank you Deborah, Alisia & Victoria for a vacation of a lifetime! Eileen, Ken & family."

  • Lovely stay at De Hideaway

"We spent a pleasant two weeks at De Hideaway in January, 2014. We had read the reviews and seen the pictures and were happy to find all exactly as advertised. DH is huge, spotlessly clean, well equipped and wide open to Barbados’ beautiful sunny weather. The house fronts onto a very quiet, cul-de-sac and backs onto a deep, tropical forest complete with a resident troupe of monkeys that will wake you up in the morning using the roof above your bedroom as a shortcut between trees. Lots of fun. The entire length of the living room, dining room and kitchen is fitted with louvered, folding doors that open completely to the outside. You can jump directly into the pool from inside the living room. The pool is as nice as it looks in the pictures and is professionally maintained to a high standard. The entire back deck and pool are completely private so that you can refresh yourself in the pool any way you like with confidence that you are alone . . . just you and the monkeys. With its four large bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and huge living area, this house is suitable for groups of four to six people. More might make it a bit crowded. Bobby was at the house when we arrived to show us around and make sure we knew where everything was and how to contact her if necessary. We did on one occasion (we chose text) and she responded with the answer to our question within a few minutes. Bobby checked in with us once during our two weeks to make sure all was well. Do you need a car? The house really is only a few minutes from shopping, banks and the beach. We timed it walking: seven minutes to town and ten minutes (uphill) back. Unfortunately, the walk is on a busy road with poor accommodation for pedestrians. We felt better about going to town after our rental car arrived and would recommend you rent a car for your stay at DH. Car rental rates are very reasonable and having one available puts all of Barbados at your disposal. We recommend you ask Bobby to arrange a car for you. Internet connection? Wi-Fi signal is good throughout the property and on the deck. Food and kitchen: There’s good grocery shopping just down the hill from the house at a large, Superstore. De Hideaway’s kitchen is large with modern appliances and two, full size refrigerators. Dine in the kitchen, in the dining room or outside on the back deck. All are pleasant. When you tire of cooking, there are ten good restaurants within easy walking distance."

Paynes Bay Travel Tips

Paynes Bay Vacation Rentals

Paynes Bay Vacation Rentals are located on the west coast of Barbados, south of the city of Holetown. Holetown is the site of the original British settlement on Barbados and lies in the center of the parish called St. James. Paynes Bay resorts are very popular with tourists as they are situated near the best swimming beaches in Barbados. Calm, warm, easily accessible—it's not hard to imagine yourself walking to Paynes Bay Beach from your comfortable Paynes Beach Vacation Rental. Alternatively, if you wish to base your stay in an accommodation that can give you a sense of old world charm, you can try out one from the many St. James Barbados villas that dot the scenic beach-fronts.

Feed Sea Turtles at Paynes Bay

The capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, is within easy driving distance from Paynes Bay, as is the Grantley Adams International Airport near the southern end of the island. At Paynes Bay, you can swim with and feed sea turtles, which are tame enough to eat from your hand. A wonderful place for underwater photography, there are thousands of fish swarming around the coral reefs close to the island. Paynes Bay is a white sand beach and one of the best beaches for swimming or working on your tan. Paynes Bay is the perfect spot for diving and snorkeling too. You can also rent jet skis, a parasail, or scuba diving equipment, with instructors if so desired.

Barbados Offers Many Duty-free Shops

Once the sun goes down, it's time to check out the many duty-free stores and shops on the island that sell everything from well known brands of clothing and necessaries to pottery made by local artists. You can still have an English breakfast and afternoon tea in most areas, but there are also local delights to try, so don't be shy. Holetown boasts several of the best eating spots on the island and transportation is made easy with a bus system, car rentals and taxi cabs. You won't have to miss a thing!
