  • Awesome vacation in a wonderful villa in Barbados :)

"Just returned from a beautiful 3 week stay in Barbados and this Villa was fantastic! It had all the comforts of home without the -28 degrees weather and the snow :) of course. Sunny almost every day and beautiful beaches all around. Our hosts tended to our every need and went above and beyond to help us all have such a great time. The staff did a great job keeping our home clean and tidy and were wonderful to chat with and even arranged for us to have some local cooking brought in which was delicious. The small pool in the back yard was all we needed after a busy day running around the island and having the use of a lovely BBQ on the patio complete with decorative lights and all was superb!! We made friendships we will cherish and definitely plan to return next year. We are regulars to the island and enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist areas, but used the buses and the friendly cabs to go anywhere we needed. Only a 15 minute bus ride for $1 U.S. to Bridgetown or Holetown and a 5-8 minute walk down the hill to our own private beach Batts rock (there was hardly anyone there that why we called it "private") which was awesome for swimming and just relaxing in the sun. 10 minute walk to supermarket and a free shuttle van to bring us back with our groceries was great. The road we were on was quiet and always felt safe neighbors where very friendly. We all send a huge thank you to Best E Villas for making our stay the best yet!!!"

  • Wonderful holiday

"We really enjoyed our holiday here and have booked to return next year. The location is ideal as the building adjoins a beautiful beach with calm sea and good walks.Beach chairs are always available to guests. Shops, restaurants and bus stops are just a few minutes walk away. The veranda is cool and private with a view of the well kept gardens and the sea. It is very pleasant to sit there in the comfortable chairs (with foot-stools!) Water sports and boat trips are are available from the beach provided in a friendly and efficient way. A very pleasant atmosphere created by the people that live and work there completes the temptation to call this "paradise.""

  • Lovely stay at De Hideaway

"We spent a pleasant two weeks at De Hideaway in January, 2014. We had read the reviews and seen the pictures and were happy to find all exactly as advertised. DH is huge, spotlessly clean, well equipped and wide open to Barbados’ beautiful sunny weather. The house fronts onto a very quiet, cul-de-sac and backs onto a deep, tropical forest complete with a resident troupe of monkeys that will wake you up in the morning using the roof above your bedroom as a shortcut between trees. Lots of fun. The entire length of the living room, dining room and kitchen is fitted with louvered, folding doors that open completely to the outside. You can jump directly into the pool from inside the living room. The pool is as nice as it looks in the pictures and is professionally maintained to a high standard. The entire back deck and pool are completely private so that you can refresh yourself in the pool any way you like with confidence that you are alone . . . just you and the monkeys. With its four large bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and huge living area, this house is suitable for groups of four to six people. More might make it a bit crowded. Bobby was at the house when we arrived to show us around and make sure we knew where everything was and how to contact her if necessary. We did on one occasion (we chose text) and she responded with the answer to our question within a few minutes. Bobby checked in with us once during our two weeks to make sure all was well. Do you need a car? The house really is only a few minutes from shopping, banks and the beach. We timed it walking: seven minutes to town and ten minutes (uphill) back. Unfortunately, the walk is on a busy road with poor accommodation for pedestrians. We felt better about going to town after our rental car arrived and would recommend you rent a car for your stay at DH. Car rental rates are very reasonable and having one available puts all of Barbados at your disposal. We recommend you ask Bobby to arrange a car for you. Internet connection? Wi-Fi signal is good throughout the property and on the deck. Food and kitchen: There’s good grocery shopping just down the hill from the house at a large, Superstore. De Hideaway’s kitchen is large with modern appliances and two, full size refrigerators. Dine in the kitchen, in the dining room or outside on the back deck. All are pleasant. When you tire of cooking, there are ten good restaurants within easy walking distance."

  • Great trip

"We thoroughly enjoyed Barbados. Madaline and William were very helpful. Upon arriving they took us into Holetown for groceries and dinner. After that we would either walk into town (10-15 min walk) or take the bus. The accommodations were exactly as advertised - quiet, clean, and on the beach. We had a great time, lying on the beach, swimming with the turtles, and touring around on the bus to different towns."

St. James Travel Tips

The beautiful coral island of Barbados is a vacationer’s paradise. Travelers here say it is "easy to get to and difficult to leave behind." Visitors to St. James beach rentals will find out why. Travelers will find Barbados has its own international airport as well as a variety of options to get to St. James itself. Vacationers can choose to hire a car, use the excellent bus service or treat themselves to a limousine service. The area of St. James is situated on the western part of the island and referred to as the "platinum coast" due to its many up-scale properties. The year-round perfect weather makes for a great summer-like vacation, at whatever time of year you choose to travel.

Swim with the Giant Sea Turtles Near Your St. James Beach Rentals

The parish of St. James has a rich history, dating back to 1625 when the first British settlers arrived. The city of Holetown was originally known as Jamestown in honor of the King. It is the oldest town on Barbados. The original inhabitants consisted of 50 settlers and 10 slaves. With an abundance of restaurants and great shopping, the area around St. James villas is the heart of the tourist area. Here, visitors can explore one of the few remaining working sugar factories at Portvale Sugar Factory and the historic St. James Parish Church. This church is on one of the oldest consecrated pieces of land on the island and is known as "God’s acre." A church has stood on this site since 1628, and visitors may enjoy a wander through the graveyard to see the resting place of many of the original British settlers. Visitors to St. James rentals will find a beautiful area, with a very social atmosphere.

Certainly, the main attraction of St. James is the beaches. The miles of bright white sand and crystal clear waters provide visitors with the island’s best beaches within easy reach of St. James vacation rentals. Those who enjoy swimming and snorkeling will want to try both Mullins and Heywood beaches. Here, visitors will find a wealth of marine life with tropical fish such as barracuda and giant sea turtles. Both beaches have a variety of cafes and snack shacks along the beach.

Tax-Free Shopping and Unique Dining Experiences Await Near St. James Villas

It is worth considering that the shopping here is tax-free for vacationers. When shopping, ensure you have your passport and travel documents with you! The best bargains are for goods such as liquor, jewelry, art, perfume and cosmetics. There is also a wonderful variety of local goods such as colorful ceramics, gorgeous glassware and handicrafts. Many stores take U.S. dollars and major credit cards, making for a convenient shopping experience.

Barbados offers many unique dining experiences, being inspired by both British and Caribbean influences. As an island, seafood is a base for many of the local dishes and many menus will have locally caught snapper, shrimp and kingfish on offer. The local traditional dish is flying fish served with a corn meal and okra dish called Cou-Cou, topped with Creole sauce. There will also be a wide variety of shellfish on offer. The more adventurous should try the local "sea eggs" which are deviled sea urchin roe, grilled pigtails or fried conch.
