"We really enjoyed our holiday here and have booked to return next year. The location is ideal as the building adjoins a beautiful beach with calm sea and good walks.Beach chairs are always available to guests. Shops, restaurants and bus stops are just a few minutes walk away. The veranda is cool and private with a view of the well kept gardens and the sea. It is very pleasant to sit there in the comfortable chairs (with foot-stools!) Water sports and boat trips are are available from the beach provided in a friendly and efficient way. A very pleasant atmosphere created by the people that live and work there completes the temptation to call this "paradise.""Guest: ANN AND PATRICK O. "We thoroughly enjoyed Barbados. Madaline and William were very helpful. Upon arriving they took us into Holetown for groceries and dinner. After that we would either walk into town (10-15 min walk) or take the bus. The accommodations were exactly as advertised - quiet, clean, and on the beach. We had a great time, lying on the beach, swimming with the turtles, and touring around on the bus to different towns."Guest: Jeff & Beth H. "We stayed at Number One Porters Court from July 7 to July 20 2013 and loved it! The house is beautifully furnished with everything I could ever need-just like home. Very clean, lots of closet space and very very comfortable beds-no skimping here! Books full of info on what to do, where to eat, shop etc....a pleasure to be there. Nice one level living with a beautiful veranda surrounded by nice tropical plants. Private but not if you want to mingle with others. Great time walking around area meeting locals and "yellow" "fun" buses to everywhere was a great choice-very easy from the house location to get around. Very Helpful keri-Ann, and Sandy of West Coast Villas (she set up all our tours) is an added bonus. We have rented privately before and it has never been this easy. Everything from start to finish went smooth. We appreciate the availability of getting a starter food pack and transport arrangements + all the info sheets around the house and everything being clearly labelled, ie light switches, etc. Its the little things that matter! It was the prefect choice for me, my husband and our son. Thanks so much for a lovely vacation!""Guest: Barb Date of Stay: July 2013 Review Submitted: July 23, 2013View listing

Swim with the Giant Sea Turtles Near Your St. James Beach Rentals
The parish of St. James has a rich history, dating back to 1625 when the first British settlers arrived. The city of Holetown was originally known as Jamestown in honor of the King. It is the oldest town on Barbados. The original inhabitants consisted of 50 settlers and 10 slaves. With an abundance of restaurants and great shopping, the area around St. James villas is the heart of the tourist area. Here, visitors can explore one of the few remaining working sugar factories at Portvale Sugar Factory and the historic St. James Parish Church. This church is on one of the oldest consecrated pieces of land on the island and is known as "God’s acre." A church has stood on this site since 1628, and visitors may enjoy a wander through the graveyard to see the resting place of many of the original British settlers. Visitors to St. James rentals will find a beautiful area, with a very social atmosphere.
Certainly, the main attraction of St. James is the beaches. The miles of bright white sand and crystal clear waters provide visitors with the island’s best beaches within easy reach of St. James vacation rentals. Those who enjoy swimming and snorkeling will want to try both Mullins and Heywood beaches. Here, visitors will find a wealth of marine life with tropical fish such as barracuda and giant sea turtles.
