"Sandbox Studio is a great little rental. My husband I like like to rent homes when we go to the Caribbean and we don't generally go to the same island twice. This makes it hard because we are always on a learning curve. Pictures don't always tell the truth so we are usually pretty skeptical of what the rental situation will be when we get there. We found Sandbox Studio to be nicer than the pictures that they show on VBRO and there were no unpleasant surprises . I say nicer because I don't think that the online pictures do Stephen's yard justice. The studio is actually a separate house from the main home. We found it to have plenty of privacy and quiet. Quiet can be hard to come by in the Caribbean. The owners are helpful and attentive when you need them but gave us our privacy when we didn't. The rental had everything that we needed and everything was well maintained. I had packed a blow dryer, beach towels and an iron just in case but none of it was needed. The house is on a quiet residential beach front street but it is one block from the bus stop and the buses run regularly. You can easily get to Holetown and other tourist locations by bus if you don't want to rent a car. If you do rent a car, the house has enough parking. The beachfront was great for long walks. The locals seemed to enjoy it but it was never crowded. The neighborhood is prosperous. (The house next door rents for $1300 a night) so everyone chips in for a night watchmen to patrol the beach area. The first day in a rental when you arrive with too much cash and you don't know anything about the area can be unsettling but there was a small but pretty intense safe and deadbolt locks and I would feel safe there even if I was staying alone. The studio is all on one level with no stairs necessary when going from the car to the unit. I tell you this because I accidentally rented a place in St. John that had 700 stairs to the beach:)"Guest: Judy Date of Stay: February 2013 Review Submitted: March 11, 2013View listing
"My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon and first Christmas in Barbados at the Muskoka Cottage. We can't say enough good things about our vacation to Barbados and this includes our accommodations. This cottage was a perfect one bedroom getaway that was close to everything you need, while still offering quiet privacy. The most amazing part is how close it is to some of the most beautiful beaches. This is the perfect spot to stay. Steven, the owner, was a great help with any questions you have and an all around great host. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!"Guest: Keith Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: March 31, 2014View listing
"Three days close to the airport made for a great break. Sorry we missed the Friday fish market. Next time will be Thursday to Monday. The laundry was a great asset. Harriet was very helpful."Guest: Kevin Date of Stay: March 2013 Review Submitted: March 29, 2013View listing

Swim with the Giant Sea Turtles Near Your St. James Beach Rentals
The parish of St. James has a rich history, dating back to 1625 when the first British settlers arrived. The city of Holetown was originally known as Jamestown in honor of the King. It is the oldest town on Barbados. The original inhabitants consisted of 50 settlers and 10 slaves. With an abundance of restaurants and great shopping, the area around St. James villas is the heart of the tourist area. Here, visitors can explore one of the few remaining working sugar factories at Portvale Sugar Factory and the historic St. James Parish Church. This church is on one of the oldest consecrated pieces of land on the island and is known as "God’s acre." A church has stood on this site since 1628, and visitors may enjoy a wander through the graveyard to see the resting place of many of the original British settlers. Visitors to St. James rentals will find a beautiful area, with a very social atmosphere.
Certainly, the main attraction of St. James is the beaches. The miles of bright white sand and crystal clear waters provide visitors with the island’s best beaches within easy reach of St. James vacation rentals. Those who enjoy swimming and snorkeling will want to try both Mullins and Heywood beaches. Here, visitors will find a wealth of marine life with tropical fish such as barracuda and giant sea turtles. Both beaches have a variety of cafes and snack shacks along the beach.
