  • Close to Beach

"We stayed here for 6 days in July, 2012. The property Manager, Jacqui, was very patent, most helpful and accommodating. The home is in a quiet neighbourhood and just a 5 minute walk from a lovely beach and a 2 minute drive north of Holetown. We stayed in the three-bedroom apartment which was very spacious, clean, well-maintained, and had a very breezy patio on the east side of the home. There are several restaurants to chose from in Holetown or in Speighstown located 10 minutes to the north. All listed amenities were available and functional."

"outstanding property, tastefully furnished and extremely well-equipped villa in a beautiful, serene and relaxing setting. The villa itself is spacious and modern with 3 large bed-rooms, each with its own large bathroom and walk in closet and an elegant spacious living area with large windows affording amazing views of a lovely golf course. We don't golf but really enjoyed staying at the Royal Westmoreland. The pool/grounds/beach access were outstanding. We loved grilling and eating at home and enjoying the lovely view. The caretaker was great, folded our laundry and made us a truly delicious Bajan meal one night, the best meal we had the whole trip (we hired her extra for this, it was affordable well worth it). well-equipped with books, movies, beach toys, a cooler to take to the beach, ice packs, high-end cooking/kitchen supplies, new grill, robes in the bedrooms. Helpful, responsive, gracious owner. Overall, quite a treat and an excellent value."

  • Great Family Vacation

"Just got back from my second stay at Cherub House. First time being August 2011, enjoyed our stay so much, that there was no doubt in our minds where we wanted to be so we booked a week stay again August 2012. Cherub House is beautiful inside and out. Love the way it combines luxury with a homely feel. The villa is so spacious that the family didn't feel like we were on top of one another but not so big that we felt distant from one another. Cherub House is situated in a peaceful and beautiful spot. Outside there are stunning views of the surrounding garden and golf course. The swimming pool is a great size and ideal for both children and adults. The villa is beautifully presented, clean and well cared for. The bedrooms are all great sizes and all have en-suite bathrooms. The living area is a comfortable and relaxing space and flows nicely to the dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is a great size and has all the gadgets you would expect. The housekeeper Trina, is lovely, polite, friendly and so helpful. Such a hard working lady, that sometimes we forgot she was even there. Very work proud, which is evident in all that she does, including cleaning, washing and ironing. My kids adored her and would talk to her non-stop, which never seemed to bother her. Cherub House has the added benefit of a separate self contained 2 bed cottage. Ideal for extended family members or friends. It is also a great space for the kids to watch telly during the day away from the adults. The cottage also has its own kitchen and living room. Being situated in Royal Westmoreland, you are close to the restaurants, beaches and the wonderful shops at Limegrove. I cannot recommend Cherub House highly enough. If you are looking for a relaxing, clean, well maintained place to stay, with excellent facilities and housekeeper, with the added luxury feel, then this is the places for you. I will definitely be booking Cherub House again for my next visit to Barbados."

  • Wonderful birthday week with family

"My sisters and I rented this townhome for our celebration of my 50th birthday in Barbados and we enjoyed it tremendously. We rented a car and had difficulty finding the unit but the friendly residents in Barbados offered to call Maureen and actually have us follow them to the unit. Maureen was very helpful in getting us keys and information on the unit. It was clean and well furnished. The location is great, with the beach just across the road which had rental chairs and umbrellas, the bus stop where we rode the yellow buses was within walking distance, great restaurants and food. The plunge pool was great to cool off. Our favorite restaurant was the Tides in Holetown which offered excellent food and service. Overall I don't think I can say anything bad, our time here was wizzo (fabulous)."

Swim with the Giant Sea Turtles Near Your St. James Beach Rentals

The parish of St. James has a rich history, dating back to 1625 when the first British settlers arrived. The city of Holetown was originally known as Jamestown in honor of the King. It is the oldest town on Barbados. The original inhabitants consisted of 50 settlers and 10 slaves. With an abundance of restaurants and great shopping, the area around St. James villas is the heart of the tourist area. Here, visitors can explore one of the few remaining working sugar factories at Portvale Sugar Factory and the historic St. James Parish Church. This church is on one of the oldest consecrated pieces of land on the island and is known as "God’s acre." A church has stood on this site since 1628, and visitors may enjoy a wander through the graveyard to see the resting place of many of the original British settlers. Visitors to St. James rentals will find a beautiful area, with a very social atmosphere.

Certainly, the main attraction of St. James is the beaches. The miles of bright white sand and crystal clear waters provide visitors with the island’s best beaches within easy reach of St. James vacation rentals. Those who enjoy swimming and snorkeling will want to try both Mullins and Heywood beaches. Here, visitors will find a wealth of marine life with tropical fish such as barracuda and giant sea turtles. Both beaches have a variety of cafes and snack shacks along the beach.

Tax-Free Shopping and Unique Dining Experiences Await Near St. James Villas

It is worth considering that the shopping here is tax-free for vacationers. When shopping, ensure you have your passport and travel documents with you! The best bargains are for goods such as liquor, jewelry, art, perfume and cosmetics. There is also a wonderful variety of local goods such as colorful ceramics, gorgeous glassware and handicrafts. Many stores take U.S. dollars and major credit cards, making for a convenient shopping experience.

Barbados offers many unique dining experiences, being inspired by both British and Caribbean influences. As an island, seafood is a base for many of the local dishes and many menus will have locally caught snapper, shrimp and kingfish on offer. The local traditional dish is flying fish served with a corn meal and okra dish called Cou-Cou, topped with Creole sauce. There will also be a wide variety of shellfish on offer. The more adventurous should try the local "sea eggs" which are deviled sea urchin roe, grilled pigtails or fried conch.
