  • Our own little spot of paradise

"We have just returned to a very cold UK after what we can only describe as the most amazing 2 weeks. 10 of us ranging from age 12 up to 76 set of to Barbados not really knowing what to expect, all of the correspondence beforehand with Anna and Graham had been prompt, friendly and really helpful, the images of the house looked stunning and the beach looked idilic - we were beginning to wonder if Weston House was too good to be true. We were met by Deborah, Juliette and Maureen who were friendly, and welcoming, as the door opened the smell of Deborah's cooking just left us with no doubt this was going to be exactly what we had hoped and more! The house itself is stunning, the views from the balcony are breathtaking especially during a sunset. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms spacious. The outdoor area was once again more than we could have hoped for, the pool was wonderful, plenty of sun loungers for us all, and the gazebo offered that little bit of shade when the sun hit is hottest at lunchtime. We have been to Barbados previously, however we had never experienced the culture and the food in the way we were able to this time, each meal was freshly prepared, we ate flying fish, red snapper, chicken, beef, white fish, a range of vegetables, fruits and cocktails (rum punch and pina colada are a must) all with a caribbean twist. The beach was great for snorkelling, or just for paddling, we walked along to find some water sports and would highly recommend Gibbs Bay if you like a really sandy spot to swim in with very few rocks. The reefs at the bottom of the garden gave the fish lovers in our family some amazing sights. All in all our too good to be true thoughts were totally wrong - this holiday was described by all of us as almost perfect - something for everyone, we felt we had our own little 5 star hotel, thank you Deborah for your hospitality and your amazing cooking, thank you Anna and Graham for allowing us the opportunity to spend time in your beautiful spot in paradise. Special Memories that will last forever. Jo, Keith, Lucy, & Abbie Benford - Sean, Maria, Charley, & Harry Turner, Dave Turner, & Barbara Westley x"

  • Canucks in Barbados

"We have only stayed at Bob's apartment one season, but we plan to return every year, if possible. The apartment is nicely located, in a quiet corner of the golf course, well away from any errant golf shots. The aprtment is close to the pool, and the laundry, is clean and cozy, and it is well-stocked with all the utensils, crockery and pots and pans one could wish for. A barbecue, nice deck area, and clean, well-maintained main living areas are the hallmarks of the Morris touch. The owner is friendly, approachable, and provided us with more than we bargained for. We have stayed at Rockley on many previous occasions, but found this unit to be all that we could ask for, and would recommend this location to one and all. It was home away from home."

St. Peter Travel Tips

Visitors to St. Peter Vacation Rentals

St. Peter stretches across the northern shores of Barbados. The main town is Speightstown which is the second largest town on Barbados. History enthusiasts will be delighted by the old colonial buildings, churches which date back to the 16th century and magnificent colonial homes. The town also has a well known art gallery with modern and ancient paintings from local artists. Art lovers can spend an afternoon browsing the many artworks. St. Peter is also home to some of the most magnificent beaches and sun lovers will not be disappointed. There are loads of beach activities available, including snorkeling and diving. There is a great beach vibe, especially in season, and many activities to keep the visitors busy.

Barbados is a popular destination for travelers from North America and there are several direct flights between hubs such as New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis and Atlanta. There is only one airport on Barbados, the Sir Grantley Adams International Airport, which is located in Bridgetown. The airport hosts regularly scheduled flights from most North American airlines as well as several European Airlines. Regional airlines operate between Barbados and other neighboring Caribbean destinations. If you are traveling from a destination that does not have a direct flight to Barbados, you may consider routing via London if traveling from Europe. Alternatively, the best connection from the U.S. is Miami Airport in Florida.

Attractions near St. Peter Villas

Barbados is known as a tax haven in the Caribbean. This makes it a favorite shopping destination. In some cases, you could find items at 50 percent less than what you would pay in North America or Europe. The tax-free shops can be found in St. Peter, Christ Church, and Bridgetown. Many will accept U.S. currency in addition to local currency as well as most major credit cards. Some items that you can look out for are high quality jewelry, ceramics, perfume and art. Clothing tends to be a little more expensive in the major towns but affordable handcrafts and souvenirs can be found in the beach front stalls and markets.

Golfing enthusiasts can test their skills on the par 72 championship golf courses on Barbados. The scenery is magnificent but don’t get too distracted—the greens are challenging. The most well known golf course is the Barbados Golf Club in Christ Church.

The diving on Barbados is a treat. Wrecks, beautiful coral reefs, crystal clear waters, warm tropical water temperatures and an abundance of marine life make diving in Barbados a memorable experience. Local dive shops have regular charters out to the reefs and dive sites. For those that prefer to stay on top of the water, snorkeling is the next best way to experience the underwater world. Cruises and snorkeling excursions can be arranged with any one of the local tour operators.

The beaches on Barbados are legendary. Soft white sands seem to go on for miles and the beaches are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Near St. Peter, the two best beaches are on the west coast, namely Heywoods and Mullins Beach. Here you can enjoy the days soaking up the sun and occasionally cool off with a swim or snorkel out to the reefs.

Seasons to Travel to Barbados Vacation Rentals

Because of its warm tropical climate, Barbados is considered a year-round destination. The high season for travel is during the spring and summer months; the beaches can get crowded during this time. From November to February, the weather is milder yet still warm and many visitors from North America travel during this time to escape the cold winter chill.
