  • Great stay!

"We stayed a week at Slipstream with our family of 8 and had a great time! Carla was awesome in answering all of our questions very timely and was very helpful. House is funky in its design, but very practical. The gardens in the front welcome you with lots of green and walking in through the doors you immediately see through right to the ocean! The main building is spacious and bright and welcoming with a slight breeze blowing at most hours of the day. We loved sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning or a drink in the afternoon! So comfortable. Lots of deck chairs and shady spots or sunny spots to warm up after a dip. My husband and I stayed in a lower room with our 8 and 10 year olds sleeping in the daybeds. There is a shutter/door for privacy which was nice. My parents stayed in the other downstairs room and my 2 sisters stayed in the upstairs rooms. The rooms were quite comfortable and very spacious. The kitchen and house had everything we needed and we had some very delicious meals at the house. You have to be conscious about the water, and so we had to time laundry, dishwasher and showers, but it all worked out fine. This was not a luxury house and so my parents had a little harder time of it, but overall I loved the place with it's beach front and abundance of space and privacy should you need it, even with 8 of us there. The beach is a little rockier than the pictures, so you need to have water shoes until you get farther out, but the kids had a great time in the water, and we could be in there with them, or keeping an eye out from the deck, which was nice with kids! There were very friendly neighbors that walked the beach and provided lots of good information. The Hillside grocery store had seriously anything you need, although expensive since it is an island. It closes at 10 on Sunday mornings, so plan accordingly! Our best meal out was at Chez Pierre's (call first he needs to know you are coming) and fish tacos at the Outer Edge Grill in Clarencetown. The best part of the island is that there is no shopping (couldn't even find a t-shirt for the kids!) only exploring cool beaches on both Atlantic and Caribbean sides! Overall a great time"

  • sunset sunset sunset.........

"The house was perfect for us. As many wrote prior, being at the house was one of the best parts of being in Eleuthera. Exploring different beaches and different parts of the island was wonderful and adventurous!! We loved Ten Bay the best (great shallow water and great to sunbathe) but others closer by were beautiful as well. Unca Genes was one of our favorites places to eat lunch as was the Rainbow Inn for dinner. The Front Porch was fantastic as well. We became friends with the staffs everywhere we went. We even had one of the families over for dinner one eve. Tippys was worth the drive. Driving at night is difficult so plan day trips. We ate dinner in most nights because we didnt want to leave the sunset and house. Having a grill was great. we used it often. the local organic produce place in town (Roots) was fantastic. Try the hot peppers if u can take heat! patties at 7-11 were so good! try them! All the info in Scotts notes, Phillips recommendations and guest books are great. and do some research on your own. Some minor negatives.... no beach chairs if you like sitting on the beach for hours but you can probably rent them somewhere - perhaps Rachels in town - (where we also bought some local fish). I didnt mind not having a beach chair but my husband likes a beach chair. We went to The Cove for a day and used all their amenities which was fabulous for $35pp/half day. Well worth it in our opinion. The lagoon was such a special treat to have in the backyard. Unfortunately we did not see many varieties of fish but my husband saw a gigantic ray when snorkeling (Im glad i missed it!) and we saw a million minnows daily and a small ray. My husband fished everyday in the lagoon but didnt catch a thing unfortunately but he still loved every minute of it having a fishing pole in his hand in his backyard. So the negatives were not so negative being in such a fabulous place / island. Some other things to note...there are many hitch hikers. we picked up a few which was a bit scary but we became one of the locals and made many friends with the restaurant and store owners. weather was perfect. We never even put the air on in the house. and we did not have any issue with bugs. i was prepared just in case. Floating on our rafts in the lagoon was like nothing i've ever experienced. we had a ball! No neighbors in the house next door while we were there so we never saw anyone while at the house. We will be back for sure!!"

  • Great location

"Great apartment for a comfortable family stay. Was perfect with our 18 month old daughter. Beach at the end of the boardwalk was calm and felt safe to have her play in. Evening walks along the boardwalk showcase the sunset and provide several dining/drink options. Beautiful to wake up to the sounds of the ocean every morning. Communication with owners was easy and recommend this particular villa in the building to anyone visiting Barbados."

  • Hummingbird has the best location on the Island!

"If you are traveling to the Island of Saba in the Dutch Caribbean, we highly recommend that you stay at Hummingbird Villa. Our group of 8 adventure seekers stayed for one week and our experience could not have been better! We arrived after dark from the Dawn II ferry ride to the warm welcome and embrace of Lika, the lovely and hospitable property manager. The villa was beautifully lit and stocked with supplies to get us through the evening and following Sunday when the food stores were closed. Everything was impeccable and clean as we were given a tour of the entire property and its amenities. Soon we were nestled in with rum drinks in hand enjoying the cool Caribbean breeze on the huge patio! We awoke to the most incredible views, sounds, and floral smells the following morning as we prepared for our first dives of the week! Sea Saba, a fantastic scuba dive outfit, arranged our pick-up at 8:45 so we had a leisurely morning with time to familiarize ourselves with all the luxuries of Hummingbird Villa. The kitchen was well stocked and we never lacked for anything during our stay. We were celebrating a milestone birthday so we hosted a small party with food catered by The Sea Witch Restaurant (highly recommend). The rest of our group who stayed nearby and the dive staff joined in the fun and the villa with its sprawling great room and patio handled the group beautifully! Aside from being a perfect villa, the location of Hummingbird can't be beat! There is a slight uphill walk to get into town but the good news is that after you have a nice meal and drinks or shop around, it is a short downhill walk home! Some other villas located up on Booby Hill had tremendously steep hikes home from town. At Hummingbird, we were amazed that in late August we were able to sleep with the windows open because the elevation and constant sea breeze were nice and cool. The sounds of the tree frogs, palms and surf far below lulled us to sleep! All in all, the island is a magical "other-world" that offers some of the best diving we have ever experienced! You feel like you are in a European village on a south pacific island. Saba is wonderfully diverse and gay friendly! If you spend the money on Hummingbird Villa you won't be disappointed. We certainly give it a solid 5 stars ++. Thanks Daniel and Lika!"
