  • Wonderful apartment in a peaceful area

"We had a fantastic two weeks at this beautifully furnished and very spacious apartment. The residential street where it is located is very quiet and the beach is very close by. There is no night life but a couple of restaurants are within walking distance as is the Crane Resort. Everything is supplied including dishwasher and laundry detergent (no food) and the kitchen has all the cooking utensils you could want. A car is not necessary unless you want to go sightseeing, but even then you could take a taxi and have the driver do a tour for you."

  • Pros and Cons to villa, but we loved our stay.

"Take to heart when the owners say, " a scenic out-of-the-way area in eastern Barbados. " We greatly enjoyed the quiet and lack of crowds. However, this means driving to everything. There are no restaurants, bars, shops within walking distance. If you are looking for a place to relax, with lots of quiet, and the ability to get to empty beaches this is perfect. If you want the flexibility to walk to bars, restaurants or be in the thick of things, it won't work. We used Hummingbird House as a base for day trips and loved coming home to quiet evenings spent on the porch with a nice breeze. All of the amenities in the house are great. TV with cable, laptop with free wi fi, and the AC in the bed rooms worked great. The kitchen was well equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, washer/dryer. They could maybe use a few more plates and cutlery. The pool isn't huge, but is nice and deep and good for relaxing and playing with the kids. Barbados in general exceeded my expectations, and so did Hummingbird House. For Barbados the weather was much better than I anticipated, nice cool breezes and no oppressive humidity. Diving was good with a ton of sea life, and snorkeling with the turtles was a major trip highlight. Negatives would be more litter than I would like to see around beaches. Also, traffic in the main areas was much worse than I expected. Around Hastings, St Lawrence Gap...."

  • Our own little spot of paradise

"We have just returned to a very cold UK after what we can only describe as the most amazing 2 weeks. 10 of us ranging from age 12 up to 76 set of to Barbados not really knowing what to expect, all of the correspondence beforehand with Anna and Graham had been prompt, friendly and really helpful, the images of the house looked stunning and the beach looked idilic - we were beginning to wonder if Weston House was too good to be true. We were met by Deborah, Juliette and Maureen who were friendly, and welcoming, as the door opened the smell of Deborah's cooking just left us with no doubt this was going to be exactly what we had hoped and more! The house itself is stunning, the views from the balcony are breathtaking especially during a sunset. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms spacious. The outdoor area was once again more than we could have hoped for, the pool was wonderful, plenty of sun loungers for us all, and the gazebo offered that little bit of shade when the sun hit is hottest at lunchtime. We have been to Barbados previously, however we had never experienced the culture and the food in the way we were able to this time, each meal was freshly prepared, we ate flying fish, red snapper, chicken, beef, white fish, a range of vegetables, fruits and cocktails (rum punch and pina colada are a must) all with a caribbean twist. The beach was great for snorkelling, or just for paddling, we walked along to find some water sports and would highly recommend Gibbs Bay if you like a really sandy spot to swim in with very few rocks. The reefs at the bottom of the garden gave the fish lovers in our family some amazing sights. All in all our too good to be true thoughts were totally wrong - this holiday was described by all of us as almost perfect - something for everyone, we felt we had our own little 5 star hotel, thank you Deborah for your hospitality and your amazing cooking, thank you Anna and Graham for allowing us the opportunity to spend time in your beautiful spot in paradise. Special Memories that will last forever. Jo, Keith, Lucy, & Abbie Benford - Sean, Maria, Charley, & Harry Turner, Dave Turner, & Barbara Westley x"

  • Perfect Hosts

"Delightful setting, great hosts, convenient location, well-equipped lodgings made my 10 day stay here a wonderful experience. Yes, I would go back, yes I would highly recommend Glenville Gardens, and yes, you'll probably ending up feeling the same way."
